Hi,
I have an OEM Home Basic DVD - 32bit.
When installing on a new hard drive, I get the following
error message repeatedly after selecting "Custom Intallation":
Windows installation encountered an unexpected error.
Verify that the installation sources are accessible, and
restart the installation. Error Code: 0x E0000100
Is this due to some defect in the install DVD?
Thanks.

hi pcandpc,
I have encounter the same problem with my Vista Ultimate DVD. I tried in few machines Dell, HP and Compaq and its end up in the same error msg, but i have encounter this problem when i try to install Vista from windows XP. After tired of trying i made a bootable Vista DVD and boot up from the DVD and i was able to install windows vista. Do you try to install from bootable DVD?

Hi Snegithan,
Thanks for your feedback.
My OEM DVD is already a bootable one
if that's what you mean. I mean, I can
boot from the DVD.
And, I'm trying a clean install, not an
upgrade from XP.
Can you tell me more about what you
mean by making a bootable DVD?
I read that OEM Vista install is tied to
a particular motherboard, and you can't
install again and again on different computers.
But, this OEM is my first attempt ever
on my computer.
I guess I'd better check with the merchant
where I ordered this OEM.

In that case, i m not sure. I have encountered the same problem when i try to do clean install from windows xp it self. i mean i launch the setup from windows xp. i tried a number of times which always end up in same error msg. So i choose to boot from the DVD to install and i manage to get it done.
