Hi,
I have 2 PCs P4 1.8GHZ with the old Intel aluminium (no Copper core) coolers.
The fans are too noisy now.
What replacement fans are recommended for almost silent operation? (Papst etc..?)
I do not want to remove the heatsink (w. thermal pad), only the fan.

they're probably running 60mm fans, in which case there will be no easy replacement for silencing or quieting down.

that was my solution, however the board is not properly wired...thats an 80mm fan that i mounted on the 60mm holes..

60mm fans were screamers just like the 40's...your best bet might just be a whole new cooler for them.

I'm guessing those are S478, and like bonestonne said - you're gonna have a hard time finding quieter fans for those. You can either do a custom jub like bonestonne did, or buy a new heatsink.
