Thats the question where do you get your pc components when you build a pc? the Web, store, friends, old computers...

Personally i have only shopped from Newegg and i will buy certain peices from the store if i notice that are on some great deal.

if you are in the US and dont order from newegg, then you should seriously see a doctor no.gif
newegg tends to suck when it comes to cooling, such as fans, water cooling, fan controllers, fan wires, etc. so i do have to use some other stores.

I either use Newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com

Anywhere except PC World, or similar places; with staff there who know
nothing about computers and a prey on families buying full systems just
so they can get 0.5% commission. If you go in there for a printer cable
or something, forget it, the staff WON'T help you.

Newegg generally but I recently came across Silicon Valley Compucycle while I was looking for some AS-5 ( they have free shipping on AS-5) and they have some good deals on cooling.

I've had some bad experiences with Tiger Direct. Forget the mail in rebates.

Dabs is where i go. I used to buy from Komplett but had problems with deliveries etc that turned me off purchasing from them.

NCIX which is based in British Columbia but has several warehouses west to east.

I purchase my parts mostly from NewEgg but on occassion I'll purchase from ZipZoomFly, ChiefValue, or TigerDirect. For instance, TigerDirect carries the Intel PRO/1000 PT PCIe x1 NIC that I've been using lately while NewEgg doesn't yet. And very ocassionally from Directron (rarely but every now and again they have some decent deals).

Two sites that have good cooling stuff, but can be kinda pricey, are FrozenCPU.com and Plycon.com.

Newegg - bought processor, memory, dvd-rw, sd card... so far. i have also used zipzoomfly.com where shipping is free on almost all items and prices are usually dollar less than newegg.

i check pricegrabber.com to see if it's cheaper anywhere else but usually newegg comes out on top.

totally agree with RJM here. TigerDirect sucks, especially when screwing people out of money. ive had some friends really screwed.
and ive used svc alot for cooling stuff. i have no water cooling right now so i havnt had to buy any, but maybe my next comp will have water smile.gif

NCIX if you're in Canada
NewEgg if you're in the US

I check deal sites, for example pricewatch and AnandTech's RTPE, but I usually shop from NewEgg, ZipZoomFly, eWiz, CheifValue, MonarchPC, Mwave, and maybe some where else for cables.

I have found this site, (http://www.smartratings.com/computers/), and it has a list of all the merchants who sell the components of a PC. Aside from that, it has also a compilation of expert and user reviews for each of the item on the list. I think it's worth a try to check it out and see what you can find.

i'm surprised no one's mentioned zipzoomfly.com. I typically buy from newegg myself, but have made a couple purchases from zipzoomfly, and have had good results.

when it comes to water and high-performance cooling, I usually shop at http://www.frozencpu.com/. They're NY-based, which is only a couple hundred miles from me, so that helps for shipping.
ripken204
multiple ppl have mentioned ZZF. ive never had to use them b/c newegg's prices have usually beat them and if not, by no more than 5$.
and frozencpu is definetly the place for water, i cant wait when i get the chance to make a 500$ order from them smile.gif

lol, i didnt realize they were in NY. they are actually 30min away from me! i wonder if they allow walk in orders... or just for me to pick up my order.
even better, what if i worked there... now that would be a fun job

They usually have the best prices and ship quick. I usually use the standard three day shipping, but most stuff gets to me within a day or two. I've even gotten a few shipments in under 22 hours without spending extra for overnight. I've never had any issues aside from getting broken cases every now and then (which they took care of by sending me another one free of charge). I probably spend between $1,000 to $3,000 per month there (home/work).

www.zipzoomfly.com
I use them once in a while when they can beat newegg's prices plus they usually have free shipping. A few months ago I needed 8 500GB WD5000YS drives and zipzoomfly had newegg beat by $20 per drive. They also had newegg beat on some 2GB memory kits by $40 not too long ago (two months ago I think).
