UAC should not be a problem. I think you might have VC Redist 2005 installed before by some other application, but it conflicts with Nero. Try to uninstall other instances of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 runtime and see if it works or not.

I finally looked up what the VC++ 2005 runtime is, since I thought that kind of thing had been subsumed into .Net long ago: "...required to run applications developed with Visual C++ on a computer that does not have Visual C++ 2005 installed."

Now, several things surprise me about this:
1) It's not new and it's tiny, so how could this not be built-in to Vista?
2) How could it not be part of the much larger .Net runtimes?
3) And most oddly, how is it possible that this is the first program I've installed written in VC++? That one's baffling. Isn't that among the most common languages in existence on Windows?

I'm using the Lite versions of Nero for a while now and also just recently found this great forum here.

Using Nero Lite 8.1.1.0 with Vista Ultimate x86. What I really need a lot is the Nero Wave Editor, but since I use the Lite versions I do have a lot of problems with it.

eg after editing a mp3 file I'm still able to save it, but then Wave Editor just crashes. I can also play songs only once in the Wave Editor and then the 'Pause' button won't change back to 'Play'....

If there's any further information I could give you to solve the problem (I'm not sure if there is some kind of log), please let me know.
The Playbutton thing is not that bad for me, but the constant crashes make working with the Editor very unpleasant.

Before Nero Lite was released for v8, I made my own stripped down version with Recode and successfully transferred it to the latest Lite release. Problem now is the patent activation which won't work (it can't find the neropatentactivation.exe which is in its normal place. Have you dealt with this issue?

With Nero Wave Editor in the latest Lite version, I find it doesn't detect VST plugins and when I press the 'Scan DirectX Plugins" button, it freezes the program (DXEnum is doing a lot of registry scanning in the background but it never comes around).

i want nero burning rom and nero vision, thats it. so is there a plug-in or sumthin i need to use with lite? or should i jus install the regualr nero 8 and uncheck everything but rom and vision?

I have the problem with both Nero Burning ROM and Recode. Never tried with only Burning ROM.

Edit: did you had the activation problem with Nero Lite 8.2.8.0 ONLY, or with that AND Recode 3.

Hi! Please don't post all in caps, it looks like you're yelling (I know you didn't mean to seem that way).

No, putting that serial number in will not wreck your Windows. You need to put the serial number in for Nero Lite or Nero Micro to work.

I use Acronis True Image and make a backup before and after every important change I make in my Windows installations on all of my computers. That way, if I don't like what a program did, I can restore the backup instead of "uninstalling", because uninstalling is not a 100% clean method (not everything always gets fully uninstalled), and restore backup images is.

Also, of course, if your Windows installation becomes wrecked, uninstalling a program wouldn't fix it, but a restored backup will. Just a suggestion.

Every computer I build for people and repair/reinstall gets the same treatment.

I use the latest Nero Lite on both Vista and XP machines and it works great for my needs.

I was in the Army 20 years ago, not the Marines, but Semper Phi anyway.

I have moved again to a new place now. Unfortunately I haven't got an internet connection there at the moment. For the next week or month I won't be able to work on Nero Lite. Please keep on posting your bug reports and solutions.
If you want a Nero Recode addon you have to code it yourself, since I have no time for testing stuff now.

I can send you the recode add on I made, it does not alter your SDK files, just adds new ones. If you could take a look and validate it (since it's based on your work) that'd be great

Besides the problem with the Wave Editor (I checked it on a pc wirh XP and Wave Editor works well there), after upgrading to 8.2.8.0, Nero seems to have a problem with my serial....

From time to time it tells me that the serial would not be correct, and then it works just fine again

the dll registering problem only occurs to me when doing unattended vista install using FirstLogonComands and/or Setupcomplete.cmd.
If i manually run the installer with the silent switches when in windows already, everything works fine.

I tried to not install C++ 2005 Redist and also tried with it being installed.

darks0ul, great news for all of NR2 fans out here ......please, could you upload for now the NR2 version that came with 8.1.1.4? I found a nasty bug in NR3 with audio and subtitles selections in main menu of the films that I tried....This DO NOT happend with NR2 version in 8.1.1.4.

Someone reported to me crashes when adding unrecognized files to an audio CD. The dll NeroVMRModule.dll is missing from Nero Lite, adding it to Common Files\Nero\Lib will prevent crash in those situations. Will be fixed for next build.

Same here, the dialog is in AdvrCntr3.dll. When it starts happening, it shows up after 4-5 nero runs (doesn't matter what nero suite program, including Burning ROM). And then you have to re-run the program. If the dialog is deleted using ResHacker, the only difference is that you don't see it, but the problem is still there.

Hi, I've just found a way to lighten my Nero 8 install a bit more. I remove the Nero Digital Shell Extension.

First, I unregister the DLL

Then, you need to reboot / log off / restart explorer.exe in order to delete the DLL
This file's size is 1.71 MB.

The problem with the serial just got too annoying and Wave Editor crashed almost on startup now.

I hope, that these bugs will be fixed soon and I will be able to use 8.2.8.0 again then.

Hi! First of all thanks a lot Acheron for last version of Nero Lite.

I also want to add Recode to my Nero Lite installation. I have installed Nero (original install) with only Burning ROM, Express and Recode and it takes 20 minutes to install and 400mb of disc space! It seems Recode 3 (folder with 13Mb) uses lots of external .dll and .ax files. I also have captured the reg changes with Regshot and I am speechless. More than 5000 entries!! Isn't this too much? How to know which of these are truly necessary to use Recode3?
I hope someone manages to add it to Nero Lite. For now I'm trying it but only I can get is a NeroAPI error.

Is this with your own serial? I can't seem to replicate the problem, though I've just used the core Burning Rom program mainly.

Maybe ur not using v8.2.8.0? Seems to happen only w/ this version (and presumably future ones, too).
Looks like Nero incorporated Patent Activation directly into the core files to avoid removal of the executable and so the use of illegal keys, but it doesn't work that well, i guess ...

Nero Recode depends mainly on external .ax and dll files. I don't have time to figure things out and test.
I have ordered a wireless network card for my pc so hopefully next week I can upload Nero to fix some reported stuff.

That is the version I'm using. I suspect I'm just not doing whatever's necessary to trigger it, or my serial passes muster for whatever reason.

Hi, I have installed Nero Lite 8.2.8.0 and I would like to report a bug.

Nero BurnRights does not works properly, I can even set the setting of BurnRights. Since I am managing a PC with multiple users (administrator and limited users), I want to allow all users to use Nero to burn CDs. I have to manually installed an older version of Nero BurnRights to set the settings.

I can't burn my mp4 songs with nero, when I try it stops working and closes! The music I'm having problems with were encoded with nero aac old version 32Kbps Parametric Stereo. I've tried with a lot of formats, mp3, ogg, wav, wma (in all flavors of everyone), aac, he-aac and even aac 32kbps ps created with aacplus, only nero aac didn't work. I may be wrong, maybe some other aac ps formats didn't work also, I have some musics which break nero but I couldn't figure out which format I've used, but everything with "Nero AAC Codec 3.2.0.18" or another version of it stop nero to work.

Can I post some musics or is that prohibited? Maybe samples???

At last my Wireless PC card finallly arrived today. Too bad my new internet connection has only limited upload capacity. I can upload some test builds, but I'll have to wait until weekend to update all builds.

With build 1.15.0.2, I am experiencing DLL registration problem on my Vista Business & Ultimate workstations (please see attached screenshot of the error box).

Problem exist on clean install and install-over previous build.

Ignoring the msg poses no problem thereafter. Burning of DVDR still functional. Other features not used
