Can You specify "SetupType" words for using with /TYPE switch?

You can ignore the message for now. It appears that I did not set the right flags for that file. Will be fixed for next build. I have also uploaded new asian builds, there was some issue with Nero ControlCenter Help (not critical).

Hey Acheron, I deleted my Nero lite recently, thought it was time to download a new version. I wish I didn't delete the file, since the newest Nero Lite is 50 MB !
I like Micro, just also want Mausau, Coverdesigner and Nero Express... can't believe that's a 50mb extra!
How come the big difference? Not so Lite... OK it is very Lite compared to full Nero, but then it can grow to 300mb and you can still call it lite.

The grow in size is caused by two things:

1. Nero 8 is bigger.
2. I have bundled more languages together to save development time.

Ok well ofcourse I understand your 2nd point. The first one well duh, don't understand why Nero is growing massively. My whole WinXP+software etc isn't as big as nero full install.

So I just tried unpacking Nero lite (innounp.exe) to get to the inno script file. Goal was modifying the script and recompiling. Unfortunately, innounp cannot unpack. Perhaps bevause you are using the newest version of Inno Setup (5.2.1) and the unpacker can handle only 5.1.1.0. But I was wondering if you are using encryption? Since then I won't be able to extract it when a new innounp.exe comes out (if that will happen in the near future..)

btw, I now installed InfraRecorder (= Free & Nero-like interface!) , didn't burn anything yet, last time I tried (almost year ago) it still seemed a bit buggy. If nero lite takes to much time and InfraRecorder is OK I might stick with that...

I know of InfraRecorder, which is a great alternative in about 1-2 years I guess for Nero. Until then Nero Lite suits me best. I only develop Nero Lite for myself in the first place. To share some of my work I release by time Nero Lite SDKs you could use. If the size is a big issue for you then try looking for some other alternative versions of Nero, but be warned some functionality will be lost.

InfraRecorder has great GUI design. Too bad the inner working of the software is crap. Multisession is an immense pain in the a** and the reliability is far below par. Garbage.

Yep you are right about infra.. too bad. Think i'll switch to nero micro. I suppose it has Nerotools and Nero Express? I'll only miss Coverdesigner & have to integrate Mausau plugins manually.

You guys might want to try JetBee FREE. As far as I can tell, it's not crippled in any way from the registered version. It has no nags that I've noticed either. The only difference I can tell is that is says "FREE" on the titlebar. The fact that it supports multisession is a big bonus. I also think it's portable like it's sister app Convex Evolution. JetBee has the features I need in Nero at only ~100KB size difference from ImgBurn.

Yes, you're right, it's off topic. By the way JetBee and JetBee FREE are 2 separate downloads. One is 30 day trial, the other is literally free.

same error here , on lite edition , on both packs [enu/euro]

tested on 2 computers [mine and other with a fresh XP install]

with [Ignore] the installation is finished [ok in my opinion] .

i used autoit for pack the installer [fileinstall]
i run silent the installer from autoit with parameters :

the name+company+serial are registered ok.

i saw in an earlier post that NeroVMRmodules.dll was missing from the package in a previous version

now , the file exist at his location but can be registered ?!

Is a known issue, will be fixed later this week. You can ignore the message for now. BTW in your commandline /TYPE should be either full or compact

Is the /TASKS="imagefile_assoc" switch still working or is this task now standard for Micro/Lite?
Same for /COMPONENTS. I assume this is switch not necessary for a full install of Micro, Audioplugins will be installed by default?

I think it is still necessary if you want to force Nero to associate with bin and iso files.



By default a full installation is choosen. So if you want all components (except any additional languages) then it's not necessary to specify this commandline option.

Error when installing Nero 8 Lite v8.2.8.0 on Windows XP Pro x64:


After the error appeared I clicked over the button 'Ignore' and installation continue w/out problems until it finish.

So far I have not tested the application in any way, because I'm afraid to finish with bad burned media due the above error.

Do you know a way how to solve this issue so I could be able to reinstall the product ?

PD: I understand that Win XP Pro x64 is between the OSes supported by this application right ?

It keeps stopping working telling me it's an "illegal serial". It's not, I assure you. I got it with my new disc drive. Any ideas?

I could be wrong, but I believe the serial for the OEM editions of Nero (what you got with your drive) can't be applied to the retail version.

I haven't had any problems burning despite this issue. I believe they know about this issue and that it will be fixed soon.

Upcoming is another minor bugfix release (note I'm still uploading the stuff now!):

The OEM version should work just fine. The only feature I install is the base and the MauSau plugins, therefore it should be covered by an OEM install. Is it possible to disable the phone-home capabillity? Keep the serial check to keep it legal, but stop it from disabling itself?

I'm not sure if this issue can be fixed. Some people also report this behaviour when using the full version. This problem started from version 8.2.8.0, but I did not alter the Nero Lite activation process.
Lets hope next Nero update will fix it.

It would be a great idea if you could add your version no (1.15.0.x) to the files you upload to the site. With this we can know whether new versions are available and also which version we are installing and to report bugs/errors.

Also, could you upload the latest SDK (again with the version no, please).

Nero 8 Lite and Micro are now updated to build 1.15.0.3.

I have tried uploading the stuff to the FTP-server but I got timed out several times due to my low upload speed at home. I have contacted the site admin but I got no reply.

Is there anyway you can include the "Burn Rights" component in these Lite and Micro versions? If I try to run either install in a limited user account, it denies me access to use the program.

Burn Rights seems to works OK in Nero Lite, just tried it with 1.15.0.3. Where is the problem?

must be in an a couple old micro versions a while back, do you know if it works in the current micro version? I don't want to put my system thru the ringer by having to uninstall these burning programs then reinstalling it

BurnRights is included in Nero Toolkit with Nero Lite, not with Nero Micro. And yes, it works with current version, just burned a DVD with locked user.

Two questions:
1) I believe way back I saw some comments about WaveEditor crashing, though I can't be sure now. Is that a problem with this release or Nero itself? I notice the problem on Vista.
2) Anyone seeing copious Event 51's ("An error was detected on device \Device\CdRom0 during a paging operation.") when inserting (or accessing later with Explorer) blank media (ain't no paging going on with blank media, and it doesn't happen with written media)? I don't know if this is necessarily related to Nero or this release in particular, since I installed this not long after Vista.
