OK coupla things....
#1 I would like to be able to have it look for peid and upx in the same folder it is in so I can possibly add it to my uberpack. (It runs really fast after the files have been decompressed)

#2 After that can I add it to my uber pack?

1: well, the new version does only extract the workfiles when they are not found.
but if thats not good, then i could make it so that they are looked for in the dir upxgui is in.
tell me whats best.
2: Uberpack?? ooh, tell me...

You've never heard of addons?
DO you know of the RyanVM update pack for XP?
Basically it is a addon for xp\2003 that adds a lot of software tricks and tweaks to your disk pre-installation.

You integrate it by adding it as a hotfix in nLite.
I would love to add you app into it I just need it faster thus the looking in the same folder for the files it needs instead of decompressing them. Or maybe you can make a non compiled versoin for my uberpack.
Plus adding an updated upx or peid would be alot easier.

ofcourse i heard of addons, use them my self.
b ut never heard of your Uberpack...
will try that out man.
yes, i can make a other version of it for you.
you see, i want to have a sort of stand alone prog, that can be executed from anywhere...
but if you like , i can make it a normal prog, like install in programfiles.
or just a map with the proog and supportfiles?
tell me and i will do it man. no problem.
p.s. you asked me one time how to change wallpapers with a cmdline option remember?
well, i have a cutdown version of my wallchanger, that works with the cmdline.
interested?

I would have all of the files in their own dir or place them in system32, and have a sendto option plus a start menu shortcut.
P.S. DUH!!!
damian666
Oct 15 2007, 03:08 AM
ok, will do that for you, just a folder with the files then.
will pm you with the link to that wallchanger thingy.
bye bye

damian666
Oct 19 2007, 01:34 AM
well, to be honest, i dont know.
thats more a question of the upx program itself.
i would say test and tell here if you find soemthing. ok?

Oct 27 2007, 07:15 AM
That's well done damian.
I'm not sure what compression your tool use, but I know that the you get the best compression in the normal way with this switch:
CODE
upx --ultra-brute
...and sometimes with this one:
CODE
-m0=BCJ2 -m1=LZMA:d24:fb120:a2:lc7:mf=bt4 -m2=LZMA:d19:fb102:a2:lc0:lp2:mf=bt3 -m3=LZMA:d19:fb64:a2:lc0:lp2:mf=bt3 -mb0:1 -mb0s1:2 -mb0s2:3
Referred to myself
here.

Oct 29 2007, 03:30 AM
I know that the upx program is best with the brute option, but it takes much time to complete man.
thats why i use the -best switch instead.
But when people want it, i can code it in...

@Inferi0r
P.S dutch huh? hallo!!

You should add a version number to the interface somewhere. Also why is peid included I have never experienced it with upx...
damian666
Nov 16 2007, 03:32 AM
hi man, the version info is allready there.
options, about.
and why peid?
because i scan the file to determine the compress or decompress option.
thats why.

Well there are tons of GUIs for UPX out there. Most of them support drag and drop of files onto its interface. That's a bad point for yours as it does not. The other bad point is that the range of options offered through the GUI is very small compared to some others.
I am after a GUI for UPX that does the following in addition to the above :
ALL UPX options can be accessed through the GUI. It must also be able to treat dirs (and recurse subdirs), compressing everything it finds, skipping automatically on errors, and creating a log file at the end of a batch process.
If you do all this, you'll have the Number 1 UPX GUI in the world and it will draw some attention and fame to you (as well as suck dry your bandwidth probably, lol).
Otherwise it will remain yet another standard GUI for UPX.

I had a script that SOMEWHAT worked with remove-able drives then DougieFresh went all nuts and totally took the whole thing wayyyy over-booard so I still keep the little simple one.
I did however make a version that uses much less resources.

(892 kb running right now)

HAHAHH Look at that.
damian666
Jan 11 2008, 02:14 AM
yeah, i know...
Believe me, it was not on purpose...
BUT it is cool!!
could you give me the little script please?
then i can get it together with the newer one and see what i can do...
"I did however make a version that uses much less resources.

"
Thats much man, mine uses only 248 kb!!
which is a modified one from dougie his script.
