But take a look at this one.

Your 1000.txt is empty in your download; should this be so?

For fun, my logon:

Edit: Since a contest has begun, I need to say that this is not my work. I downloaded it over a year ago and I am not sure where it is from.

It isn't empty. Check line 411!
damian666
ok, so i get the message dudes...
maybe we should do a sort of a contest, of login screens, the one that makes the nicest one, will get his name in the pack and
credit ofcourse for his work.

and we would have a nice new logon screen, like the idea?

Damian666
kontini
I didn't want to partecipate to a contest. unsure.gif, but the idea is good for the pack.
You could open a poll.
damian666
i know you didnt man, it just hit me as a good idae biggrin.gif

so you think it could be cool huh?

nice...

damian666
kontini
Sure, I think everything that can improve the pack is good, not only your ideas.
damian666
yes, i agree with that man...
i have to figure out to do this contestm but i will figure it out somehow...

stay tuned

damian666

damian666
ok, i got it man, thanx...
a very nice vista clone this is...

but maybe users want a less "old" logonui?
we will see man, downloaded, and recorded man biggrin.gif

damian666
Aloha
Mara-, what you posted looks like from Vistamizer 1.2.1 by Manuel Hoefs, if I remember well. The newer version 2.2.1 has a black screen, not this one. Correct me if I am wrong.

No, I never used that pack. I think I downloaded just logonui.exe, I did not extracted it from any pack.

How do you mean "old"? It is almost same as Vista RTM log on screen, clone as you said.

Cheers newwink.gif
X'tyfe
how compatible is this with SP3 RTM? has anyone tested
damian666
yeah, ofcourse i tested man biggrin.gif...
and the good news is, that there is maybe 1 or 2 files that dont get patched right.
but that is all!!!

so it wont take me long to finish it up.
i will release a in between version, to make this compatible all the way with sp3

@mara, i meant "old", in the way that it is everywhere...
all packs have it, and i like to stand out personally...
BUT, if users choose it, i will put it in.

So to all users, apply your logonui that you like here, and when i get a piece or 10 of them
i will post a poll to let YOU guys choose what to include.

Bye guys...

I want to advise another little bug when I was creating a new partition:

damian666
ok, got it man...

thanx man

Damian666
X'tyfe
vista pack also patches uxtheme.dll right? want to make sure that is also ok
iv heard alot of people saying that they needed a new one for SP3
damian666
good that you mention it man, the uxtheme is NOT patched by the current pack...
i need to find a way to patch it myself, or get a updated uxtheme patcher...
which i both can not find till now...

Well, here's my 2 cents about boot and logon. I attached pics of how my XPsp2 goes from boot to desktop. With umpteen bazillion megahertz modern 2 core CPUs not much time is spent on the boot screens and with different graphics all over the place start up gets to look like a really bad cartoon animation so I'm using a dark (easy on the eyes) background for boot, logon and desktop. If anybody wants to try these, let me know where to upload the kernel, logonui, etc because it's all bigger than I can upload here.

Soambah

PS Oops I'll have to put pics of logon and desktop in other posts.
sombahd
Here's the logon. The desktop uses the same background as wallpaper but without the center login rectangle. For some reason I can only get these two uploaded. Maybe there's a daily upload limit? anyhore, I'll try to put up the desktop tomorrow.

damian666
ok, thanx man, anyone else?

Hello I canīt get it to work to patch the I386 folder on the CD that is copied to hard drive.
So I have another question.
when it is installed is there any silent patch switch for the Vistapack.exe.
So I can patch the installed files silently not need to push the patch button also so it close Vistapack when it is patched.
and what is the silent switch for the installer.
why this is use it when I make my unattended win2k CD so I get this silently also I can restore it if I do it this way.
damian666
yes there is man, the switch for silent install is " /S" , but without the "" ofcourse.
and its so weird man, i tested it again, and see no problems what so ever...

did you check if the txtsetup.sif file was present?

have fun man

I gonna test it on some other computers to.

Thanks for a great software.
But it did work perfect on my installed machine.
damian666
cool man, and please let me know ok?

@damian

Is it possible to install Vistapack with the silent-switch "/S" via WPI after a fresh, unattended XP-install?

Are there any more switches?

Best regards

cool400 ph34r.gif
damian666
well, it should be no problem man.
it can be installed after install, and thats when wpi is executed so...

and no, not more switches man.

This is the boot screen I have been using. I found it on the net somewhere and cleaned it up a touch to not look like only 16 colors.
damian666
it looks cool, but maybe a little to much...

but i will take it for myself man biggrin.gif

oh and guys, the vistapack works great on sp3.
tested myself.

Damian666

p.s. only uxtheme doesnt work, but you can get my uxtheme patcher in this same forum biggrin.gif
Squeeto

Here it is. It is not my work; I just cleaned it up. I could probably find the source if you really need it.

If you want the all black pallet versions, so that it doesn't flash on the screen, let me know. The black pallet ones are for when you hack ntoskrnl.

Also note that the progress bar position matches Vista.

What about real Vista boot?

I know that somebody will say that it is bad, but the goal of Vistapack is to transform XP as closest as possible to Vista, right? So you may consider this damian. Link from WinCert Forum.

Also, you might add OOBE patching to your pack. There are few nice OOBE's at WinCert again, here is the link. I prefer this one:

You may ask authors for permission there, I'm sure that they will agree.

damian666
hi mara biggrin.gif, thanx man, and yes you are right for the greatest part of it...
but a little freedom in the resource is needed man, because not all is found in vista.

but you have a point man.

i wont promise anything biggrin.gif

Damian666
mara-
OK, I hope that your next version is coming soon, since I want to use it on SP3 and you mentioned somewhere that few files are not patched.

damian666
i had that too, but i thought i fixed that, i dont encounter it anymore so...

ok man, thanx for reporting biggrin.gif

damian666

Damian666

X'tyfe

damian666
yeah, thought so man...
i knew it was trouble biggrin.gif

oh well, it was fun as long as it lasted biggrin.gif
no problem, will fix it for the next release.

Damian666
Squeeto
Since Damian is offering others to aid in the overall look of Vistapack, I thought that I would throw in my personal Log Off / Turn Off dialogs as well.

I don't have Vista but I believe that these dialogs don't exist? So mine can be considered:
mara-
Wow Squeeto, these are really cool. I hope that damian will consider adding it to his pack.

Cheers newwink.gif
damian666

thanc you very much squeeto, it looks like your all over the credits man biggrin.gif

thanx again.

Damian666
X'tyfe
hmm

im not sure about this
but i seem to also have crashes in firefox which may be related to the combination of SP3 and Vistapack
it works most of the time, but will sometimes crash on exit

however, it doesnt tell me what makes it crash like the other program i was using
if i do catch it again ill see if i can figure it out
