ok, i have a temporary fix for you guys.
dl the attached txtfile, and replace the old one in the comctl dir with it.
then just force reload the comctl file by entering comctl32.dll in the box and press reload.
on reboot you will be happy to use your programs again biggrin.gif

it seems like the new comctl doesnt like his bmp's to be patched... sad.gif

dont know if it can be done.

enjoy

Vistapack 2.4 have bug with uninstalling on Win2k. Maybe damian can help you to remove it from your system.

Cheers newwink.gif

This is my simplified properties dialog. Although it is not pure Vista, I think that it matches the look of the other tabs better.
damian666
yeah, its a real pain in the a** that dialog man, i know biggrin.gif
its to bad i cant find the other tabs to include te picture everywhere.

so maybe we have to go with your one squeeto.
and man, its good to have you back on the design team biggrin.gif

Damian666
damian666
poll added, please let me know what logon you like.
if you have another which you want to include in the poll, let me know.

If you do:
kontini
Hi man, I edited some picture in 16 & 20 bitmaps of msoeres.dll with the original 16 colors palette

If you'll include my dark logon, be sure to keep last updated attach, because of an updating due to a palette bug ( according to windows first color of a palette should be black, RGB = (0,0,0) )
damian666
ok kontini, got the msoeres, and squeeto...
i cant open the rc file, maybe save as a res file for me? biggrin.gif

Damian666
Squeeto
You can view the rc file with notepad.exe.
damian666
proberly 2 more weeks for next release guys.
and i think i am going to go a other way after that...

want to make it a patcher system, which comes with the vistapack, but can be used as a general patching system.
that way users can make their own packs, and applie it with the system.
could be cool, and give users more choices.

the ones that want it, can be posted on the official forum and site ofcourse.
let me know what you guys think about that...

Damian666
mara-
That would be great damian. I know that this is off topic but can you tell me what is UXTender in your sig?

Cheers newwink.gif
damian666
uxtender is the new uxtheme patch i am making, but i have some trouble with the current patch process.
the resultiong file doesnt work on restricted accounts so...

Hi damian666,

attached is a cmd-batch which changes the panel colors to a more lighter appearance.
It is targeted for Windows 2k.
In conjunction with your Vistapack it looks (imho) pretty good.
Perhaps you like to integrate it.
A vbscript version is also available, let me know if you prefer this one.

To make an undo, save the registry setting before applying, its in:
“HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-xx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-1001\Control Panel\Colors”

s1hansa
damian666
ok, got it and will check it out man biggrin.gif

damian666
s1hansa
Damian,

the previous cmd doesn't work, it needs reg.exe, please take the vbscript one.

sorry, s1hansa
s1hansa
oh ...
damian666
ok, poll closed...
users have spoken and chose the black logon.

Next version will have that biggrin.gif

Hey Damian666,

Its me again, and with a problem again :\

After I install the pack on 2k and reboot for the second time or change the color scheme (desktop->right click->properties->appearance) I get something like this ( http://shrani.si/f/3T/11/1QPj6nh0/1/untitled.jpg ) . Any hints on how to fix it would be very appreciated.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the funny thing, only explorer seems to be having problems displaying icons, as you can see in the picture winamp shows the icons correctly and so does every other program that has an integrated browser for whatever needs...

Thanks and best regards

knofix
damian666
yeah, i know about that bug man, but unfortantly its not my pack, it is a bug of the rpl2k.dll.
which is made by tihiy, so i am very sorry, but i cant fix that.
only thing i know is that you dont change the colormode...

sorry

Damian666
marxo
Maybe when Daedalus is out we will lose the rpl2k which is buggy...
damian666
well, i really hope so man.
it seems to get worse and worse...
maybe m$ changed some things in files or something

I got some ideas about how to make this Vistapack (XP) better:

1. Will there be an option to choose what to be installed when it is patching my system files (not the extras)?

2. Well, there is a few things i really don't like about the current Vistapack (XP).
- The logonscreen and the shutdownscreen, including the box where you can choose to log off, restart or shutdown your computer, should be exchanged to something else and better, than what is provided. It seems pretty outdated, than the real Windows Vista. Try to make it look better.
- The windows flag (which seems to be the aero-cursor with a black background, why the aero-cursor?) in windows explorer, up in the right corner, below the "close" button, should get the VistaOrb - windows flag instead (Startbutton in Windows Vista), and "About Windows" (typing winver on the run dialog box) should be improved. Look at the picture below.
I don't really like this at all.

And the bootscreen you have made, is the best bootscreen i have ever seen on Windows XP. Don't remove it!! smile.gif
The same thing applies to the wallpaper you have made!!

XPize has some resources you may use.
And i think that there exists better logon- and shutdownscreens, based on Vista-XP style.

And, will you include some other extras, for example found in the Vista Inspirat Bricopack?

And also, take a look at this guide: Get the Vista look on XP.

By the way:
Why is the language of the installer totally different (Some other language than English) than when you are going to patch your Windows with Vistapack?

The system, some of the screenshots too, is coming from a virtual computer i have testet using VirtualBox, since i don't want to format my computer all the time just to test a piece of software that make windows look better.

This is how the REAL Windows XP should look like these days and I LOVE THIS KIND OF BEAUTY:
damian666
ok, i was going to comment, but now you lost me man...
that second post, those are my things biggrin.gif

so why show me? i know them allready :S
i know some things need a lot of improvement man, i am working on it biggrin.gif
and i am not going to include a lot of extra software man, i hate it when my system gets slowed down by running
stuff in the background.

and about the "cursor" in the right corner, trust me... its not the cursor, its custom made. and not by me
its very hard to make a nice one for in that corner.

language support only done for the installer, not the patcher...

shutdown dialog fixed in new version.

logon changed too

1. Will there be an option to choose what to be installed when it is patching my system files (not the extras)?
no, i dont see the need for that.

but thanx for your ideas, i hope i can get you in my fanbase, but i am only human man.
i can only do so much biggrin.gif

damian666

- that second post, those are my things biggrin.gif

Yes, of course it is your things biggrin.gif
I haven't been thinking to steal your work,
I just wanted to show the greatest stuff you have done successfully with Vistapack, that i really really like.

Well, i agree with that smile.gif

- and about the "cursor" in the right corner, trust me... its not the cursor, its custom made. and not by me

What do you mean? What is that "cursor" for really? It doesn't attract the beauty of windows very much with that cursor, really. Shouldn't it be better with the Windows Vista Orb logo?

- language support only done for the installer, not the patcher...
No english language support on installer?

- shutdown dialog fixed in new version.
logon changed too

Are you telling me that these changes has been made and will come in a new release of Vistapack XP?

- (Will there be an option to choose what to be installed when it is patching my system files, not the extras?)
no, i dont see the need for that.
Well, i was mostly thinking about the logon- and shutdownscreen. If you could move them to the Extras. But, if better logon- and shutdownscreens will come, i will agree with you newwink.gif

- but thanx for your ideas, i hope i can get you in my fanbase, but i am only human man.

damian666

But if i suddenly finds something useful, that you eventually can integrate in this pack, i can come with some ideas.
If that is okey for you, of course. biggrin.gif

Cool biggrin.gif

its not a static picture, thats the problem, its a animation, which is made up of a very long bitmap, which plays round and round. very hard to make, be my guest, and try it biggrin.gif if you succeed, i wil include it biggrin.gif

No english language support on installer?

the installer chooses the language of your OS, thast why you dont see english, i see it i dutch so...

Are you telling me that these changes has been made and will come in a new release of Vistapack XP?

hell yeah biggrin.gif

So, do you have any thoughts about when the new Vistapack will be released? biggrin.gif
Any screenshots from it? biggrin.gif
theutlass
Hi,

This looks amazing but i was asking myself what langages does it support and does the /S also apply the theme ?
and can i install it at svcpack on my unattended xpcd ?
Thanks in advance newwink.gif
damian666
i hope this week, but i am not sure if i am going to make it...

and screenshots? no.
you just have to wait man

Damian666

@theutlass, it supports nl, en, sp it, and de for now... so no french...
sorry, you could help me translate some stuff if you like.
then i can support french too, do it this week, and i might get it in the new release...

and yes, the /S switch does apply all the extra's.
svcpack?, no, do it on first run, that will work
theutlass
If you can tell me what strings you modifie i can send you translated strings smile.gif
What extra's does the /S switch apply ?

Edit : I looked to the app and it has a source patching feature, it's very nice smile.gif
But does it only patch the files or does it also drop vista theme and extras ?

Only files.

Cheers newwink.gif
damian666
thanx Mara, indeed it only patches files for now...
i am still looking for a good way to integrate it in the setup biggrin.gif

If you can tell me what strings you modifie i can send you translated strings

ok, look in the shell32.dll AND sysdm.cpl AND timedate.cpl folder, and lookup the resfiles there all those resfiles should be translated to french.
just open it up in reshacker, and there you see the dialogs i translate, just add a french one too the list, copy the english in there, and translate it.

thanx for it, you will be credited in the readme and stuff.

What extra's does the /S switch apply ?
all of them, sounds, cursors, wallpaper, true transparency, theme... all of it biggrin.gif

Damian666
theutlass
There are corrupted ressource file in the pack
timedate.cpl => both english version of the script got german windows name
sysdm.cpl => 115.res only contain one language (NL ?)
damian666
hmm, let me look man, but about that 115 one language one, that one is not needed.
its a test file.

about the dialog caption, change it to Date and time, its my own language btw biggrin.gif
then you are good to go biggrin.gif

Damian666 thanx man
theutlass
Ok thanx i'll make the changes then i'll add the updated ressource files newwink.gif
damian666
thanx a lot, it will maybe make the pack late for a week, but its worth it biggrin.gif

another language to support biggrin.gif

Damian666
theutlass
Lol Sounds great thumbup.gif
If there is something else to translate please tell me i'll do it as fast as i can.
I also translated the 115 file in french newwink.gif
