Hey i installed C&C Generals again tongue.gif.. but i have problems.. the start up videos are jerky and the briefing videos also, as well as the sound during them like stutters.. anyone know why?
Aaron
Is it patched to the latest version?

Did this stuttering occur before?
Drewdatrip
What vid card you running?
Generals is pretty intensive, the engine is completly 3d and most on board and lower end crds cannot handle it.

Doggie
its happened before yes.. not patched it as i have no idea what patch to download..
video card: Geforce4 ti4200 8xagp
MSNwar
The latest NA patch is 1.7 (about 17 MB) Download

The requirements for the game are high as Drew stated: (C&C Website)

The minimum Vid Card: 32 MB video card using the Nvidia® GeForce2?, ATI® Radeon? 7500 AGP video card, or more recent chipset with DirectX 8.1 compatible driver.

- Windows® 98, Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP (Windows NT and Windows 95 not supported)
- 800 MHz Intel® Pentium® III or AMD® Athlon? processor
- 128 MB RAM
- 8x CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive
- 1.8 GB free hard disk space plus space for saved games (additional space required for Windows swap-file and DirectX? 8.1 installation)
- DirectX 8.1 compatible 16-bit sound card
- Keyboard; Mouse

Even if your Vid Card meets the minimal specs there also has to a lot of extra hard drive space.

thanx MSNwar smile.gif
Well i have 256mb of ram so thats ok
I think i may have a problem due to the fact i only have 1.1ghz but its a celeron.. perhaps this is holding performance down?
as some games i have like have smaller specs and find it hard to run smooth
Doggie
well i've applied the patch, and still is doing it :/ i am rather confused on why this is happening
MSNwar
Your Celeron 1.1 should be fine. It is about 15 % - 25 % faster than the P3 800 recommended by EA.

I missed how much RAM your Vid Card has?

What about the swap file? Does the hard drive have enough free space for the expanding swap file?
Doggie
128mb for my 3d card
wats a swap file? is it the virtual memory option or something completely different? tongue.gif
MSNwar
Yea, thats the virtual memory. Just another name for it. Another name is Paging file. There is a guide in our Guides section that explains it all:
