Does anyone know about any Service Packs for Windows 98SE? I have spent a good effort wandering the web, and of course found this forum and the hot-fix and update sticky thread featured here. The Microsoft site is predictably confusing.
Because of my limited experience with Windows 98, I have only been able to locate numerous individual fixes for specific problems and a few Unofficial collections of updates, fixes, patches, etc. (of unknown quality to me). I am at the very early stages of installation; and I have naturally run up against many of the problems that are now very familiar to most of you.
What I am hoping for is either the last basic Service Pack by Microsoft, or better still, the most effective, most recent, and most respected Unofficial collection of updates, fixes, patches, etc. Hopefully this could be downloaded as an executable (or similar) file that will not send the user to a Microsoft controlled download. Since I have not yet been able to configure the satellite broadband to the Windows 98, I am limited to the speeds of the alternate dial-up connection which are very frustrating for use at the Microsoft downloads sites. An executable could be downloaded to my broadband-capable Windows 2000 computer and delivered to the Windows 98 computer much easier.
My hope is that such a file (or files) would greatly limit the remaining fixes that I would need to deal with.
If my use of the search function is less than competent, I apologise; but I will still be grateful for a link.
In any event, thanks in advance for your help.
