Hi dudes, marxo from WPC, and myself, have created a UXtheme patcher for the new sp3 version.

this little app can easily patch your file, so you can use unsigned visual styles.

Here is a download link: SP3 UX theme patcher 1.1

Have fun.

new version uploaded.

better detection of patched or unpatched file.
more safety checks
and a "lost hope" hotkey to restore the original file.

I tested it with success on a russian uxtheme file, and all wend well, so i think its language
undependend, but i wont make that claim for sure biggrin.gif for now...

First bug found guys, patched file generates a error when used under restricted acounts.
trying to find a solution now biggrin.gif
stay tuned...

nice guys

is this only compatible with xp sp3?
damian666
yes, only for sp3, in a few days we will all upgrade so,...
why supply sp2 support? and its also allready there so...

and i hope it works on all language versions, but untill its tested, i cant say for sure...

so let em know dudes.

Damian666

I wasn't having a dig at all smile.gif, the internet is crap for comments :/

I should have asked, "is this a multi-patcher", like the ones with 2003 and xp64bit support smile.gif
zabardast_1
Can you integrate this patch in WinXP SP3 Installation cd and how, like when using nlite there's an option in 'Patch' or can it be integrated with nlite ?
damian666
@bledd, for now its only a sp3 file patcher man.
no other ones are planned btw...

maybe the x64 version, but no compatibility downwards is neccesary for as far as i am concerned.
as i said above, we will all upgrade when sp3 hits normal channels man...
and then i can take out that support again, because its not needed anymore...

so the answer is no.

@zabardast_1, just use nlite for that man, that works perfectly with the latest sp3 uxtheme.

Thanks!!

Hi damian just want to say thank you for your effort and sharing this excellent piece of work. BTW am still such a noob and just wondring how can I integrate this using nlite. And how can I integrate the theme FlyakiteOSX v3.0 pardon me if this is a little bit off topic. blushing.gif Just want to know how will I do it before I started again making nlited SP3. Thank you.
Kelsenellenelvian
NO NEED to integrate it using nLite.

You can select the patch for uxtheme in nLite.

thanks Kel smile.gif btw would you mind helping me on how to integrate the FlyakiteOSX v3.0 as my primary theme? I just d/l the file but it is in exe format and have no idea how to integrate it in nlite sad.gif thanks again.

This works fine for my admin account but my limited user account crashes explorer and spits out and error message - 0xc0000022. If I make the account admin it then works fine but revert it back and it crashes again.
damian666
well, that has something to do with the fact that normal users cant tamper with files i think.
just run as admin, and your ok.
i will investigate it for new version.

Damian666

thanx for reporting, and have fun man
Smeeeprig
Should've been more clear I patch uxtheme from my admin account but when changing to my lua it then crashes on logon. Anyway found another patch that works.

Any chance of having a Uxtheme patcher for SP3 RTM with a /S switch I can use with XPize .Net?

Cheers

EDIT: If it works for both SP2 and SP3, much better!
damian666

Thanks a lot Damian666 smile.gif

Does it work for SP2 as well? I would like to have only one Uxtheme patcher that works for both versions for XPize .Net.

Cheers
marxo
It works with SP2 also, same Hex edits.

Hi i have XP SP3 (5512) Turkish, it works perfectly. Thanks
marxo
It is language independent, as we thought. Stand by, v1.2 soon.
Jam3s
Thanks for this great tool. What language is it coded in?
marxo
AutoIt 3.

Is anyone else having problems seeing ALL of the themes they have installed? I used the patcher above (1.1) but only a few themes are showing, when double clicking the .msstyle it applies as it should.
damian666
dude, that has nothing to do with the patcher, i think its becaus eof the way that the themes are placed on your hdd.
if they are not in the right map, they wont show up.

and please, first try it without the patcher and with a prepatched file before making any
reports man.

Damian666
y0himba
Please, re-read the post. As stated above I used patcher v1.1, and the file is patched.

Now for a bit more information, that machine has been running XP pro for 2 years, and the file has been patched since the last reinstall of XP, 2 years ago, and the themes were showing until I applied SP3, then I patched it, yes the file is patched, and now only a few themes show. Therefore, the themes are installed correctly "dude", and were showing until SP3, now they work when double clicked, but do not show up in the list.

The suggestion to use a pre-patched file is a good one, albeit a bit rude IMHO "man", but one major problem, where to get a pre-patched file that is trustworthy?
damian666
are you trying to tell me something with this "dude" & "man" ?
if so, dont do it man, and else... forget it biggrin.gif

i know its a bit crude to replace the file, but its the only way to be sure its the fault of the patcher or not.
that file can be found on this forum.

so please try that, and i knew you used my patcher, i just wanted you to test it before you report.

Thats all man. let me know.

Damian666
y0himba
I apologize, I see that English is not your first language, and to someone my age calling me "dude" is demeaning as well as rude, also saying "man" to me at the end of a sentence is considered insulting, and rude. It seemed that your post talked down to me like a child or a newbie. As a reply to my first question on the forums, it was a bit, well, rude. smile.gif

Now then, I think I found a bug or an issue. My daughter, whose computer I use this patch on, was not happy with that fact that she could not apply her custom themes after I installed SP3. I told her to wait until a patcher was released for SP3 then I would check it and apply it, but she couldn't, so she installed Stardock's Windowblinds on her computer and my wife's computer. Once I removed it all the themes are listing correctly, no patched file needed.

For anyone who is interested a safe pre-patched file can be found at http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18059, but is not necessary, this patcher works perfectly on 2 machines here, unless you have Windowblinds installed.
damian666
oh, i didnt know that was degrading in your language...
well, i am sorry then, it is just the way i talk in english man, thatys what you get for learning it from TV biggrin.gif
so no harm intended man, just take it with a grain of salt if i say that man... biggrin.gif
i cant help it really...

and about the patch, so it is only when you have windows blinds installed huh?
and with the prepatched file its the same?

thanx for reporting man, not sure if i can do anything about it, but i will try biggrin.gif

Damian666
y0himba
You know, when I started working on the machine I saw that she had Windowblinds installed and removed it. When I went back in to get a screen shot to show the themes that weren't showing...hey! That fixed it! So I didn't even try the patch file. I can confirm that this issue is with the patch and Windowblinds installed though. I hate Windowblinds, bloated and useless, and too expensive.
vile
Just to let you know the patch isn't working for me. I've just got SP3 today through windows update and after applying the patcher when I try to apply a 3rd party msstyles file I get an error "An exception occurred while trying to run <path to theme file>". Maybe I did something wrong...the machine was patched using Uxtheme multi-patcher for SP2 before the update.
damian666
did you reboot after the install of the SP3?
and then after you patched the file on that next reboot, did you reboot again?
that is really necessary to replace the in-use file.

Let me know if it stil doesnt work, and else email me the uxtheme from your system so i can take a look why it didnt work

biggrin.gif Damian666
vile
Yeah, I rebooted after updating to SP3 (windowsupdate asked me to) and after using the patcher. I've emailed you my current dll if you feel like taking a look, thanks smile.gif.
