Uum, have you guys ran into this that your 2008 Server thinks it's equipped with Service Pack 1? My server says it's version 6.0 (Build 6001: Service Pack 1)..

Am i entirely wrong here, but isn't it so that there is no SP1 for 2008 Server?

I believe Server 2008 has SP1 built in from day one (RTM). MS decided to include kernal fixes which were released in Vista SP1 rather than releasing a Service Pack seperately.

The first 'real' service pack for 2008 will be SP2.

for more info, see here.

Spike.

Vista and Server 2008 are built from the same OS build tree - therefore, the Vista SP1 codebase is also the codebase that Server 2008 uses, hence the OS tree is at SP1, and Server 2008 will show as being "SP1", even though it's an RTM product.

One can insert any statement or joke about Vista RTM being released too soon, and that they should have RTM'ed at what is now SP1, but nonetheless, 2008 and Vista SP1 are the same, hence 2008 "SP1".

Okay, thank you guys very much. I Had no clue about this, and was starting to wonder if my install media was pirated/modified or something odd.
