I recently got a dvd burner so i thought one of my first projects should be to make a Windows DVD. The DVD ended up being over 10 gigs but fitted on 1 dvd.
Here's what the dvd has:
win2k:
DDK
OPK
win2k pro sp4
win2k serv sp4
win2k adv serv sp4
sp4 seperate
xp:
DDK
OPK
Plus! XP
Plus! DME (no activation needed)
XP Home RTM
XP Pro RTM
XP Home SP1
XP Pro SP1
XP Tablet PC
XP Media center
SP1 seperate
XP Pro SP1 Custom install (unattended)
server 2003:
OPK
Custom Install (unattended)
Enterprise corp
Standard corp
Web corp
Office 2003 - all 5 cd's with serial inserted
Windows PE 1.1
ERD Commander 2003
272 Megs of software
Bootdisks:
win95
win98
winme
Memory testers:
microsoft
memtest86.com
Other:
1) Acronis Proof Eraser
2) Autoclave v0.3 Secure Eraser
3) Drive Image
4) Ghost 2003
5) Ghost 2004
6) Hard drive Wiper
7) NTFS DOS Pro
8) Partition Magic 7
9) Partition Magic 8
0) Password Changer
The 2 custom installs were fully unattended, and installed software and such. The win2k installs didn't need a serial.
Here's a screen shot:

edit: I forgot to mention it took 30 mins to make the cd image lol. And that's with the hard drive fully defragmented and no other apps running.

Gosh, just curios about something I spotted - you list among the things on the DVD you have created Ghost 2003 and Ghost 2004. I didn't know that a Ghost 2004 even existed yet. Is this a Beta or is it actually Ghost 8 Corporate Edition?
Just curious because I've been keeping my eyes open to see if a Ghost 2004 was coming out soon.

Yes it exists, it installs fine with no activation at all

I don't think it needs a serial either.

it creates dynamic links on the disks to file, so if four files are the same, then it only burns it once and links it to it.

True! True! Cd Image is truly a tool needed to make these kinds of dvds.
@Gosh.
Is the DVD you created bootable, im guessing it is, if so what tool did you use to create the boot files.

I just used cdimage.exe like any other ISO i've made. I burned using Nero6 (record > burn image). The process was no different than bootable cd's i've made in the past.

Dec 8 2003, 08:59 PM
ya it does. The 4 gig limit is a limitation of fat32, use NTFS.
This is the command i ran in a batch file. It put any errors into status.txt.
cdimage -lAllDVD -t12/05/2003,05:00:00 -h -m -o -bE:\CD\CDSH\loader.bin -j1 E:\CD E:\CD.ISO > status.txt

Hey Gosh!
Can you explain for me how you did make WindowsPE 1.1 (I've got 1.2) work for your dvd? Im trying since monday and didn't find a possibility to start pe WITH the installed programms (mainly the INF-files) in the "WinPE"-Dir in the disk-root.
please help me, thx ;D

CDIMAGE is what Gosh used to create the ISO for the DVD. This allows you to fit a lot more on a DVD than normal, because it cross links any files possible so it's not including duplicate files. My 9gb folder for my DVD files comes out to be a 4.1gb iso with CDIMAGE, so I could still fit a lot more stuff on there.

1. My root folder size : 5,58 GB (5.993.140.224 Bytes)
2. The "winnt.sif file" is in the root\pro2\
3. I dont know what kind of version: the install start perfect by pro1 without "oem"
and without "unattend".

Okay, txtsetup.
si_ killed, sorry. I've had made so many changes at the last time, that I've looked over this mistake.
But why it run if the root folder size is less then 4GB? Otherwise it does'nt works!
Is this effect only by "Virtual PC"?
And work it perfect, by a DVD, then the size is over 4GB? I mean the rootfolder before cdimage made the iso, of course!
I hope you know what i will say!
sorry for my bad english

if you think its a problem with Virtual PC, you could use a program like Daemon Tools and Alcohol, and mount your iso, then have virtualPC use the emulated CDrom, instead of the ISO.

It appears "sp4.cab" is not on the cd. I think sp4.cab is the service pack, I'm not sure. Either add that file to the cd, or remove the line from the .sif file.
