Yea, but why did you keep these bmps with a printer on it (the taskbar ones)? I don't see them show up anywhere...

Dear Marxo,
this printer is in all bitmaps in all original versions of Explorer.exe. Should I remove it? Why should I remove it?
marxo
Dear spplus,
the printer bitmaps aren't used at all. That's why.

So, there is an argument. It was an idea of Microsoft. Of course If I will remove it, this bitmap It will weigh less from MS-RLE compresion reason. But, I don't know if Gape wish to have an Explorer.exe with bitmap without this printer. Should I remove this "PM" too?

spplus,

Please note that there is a more recent version of explorer.exe than the one you are working with.

Here are the info about the last explorer.exe version:
And, hey, that's an icon fix!

I know. I know. I know. Our version of bitmap comes from Explorer from SP 2.1a(cool.gif from before 6 months. Of course I mean to apply this to this version
EXPLORER.EXE 4.72.3612.1710. --> 11 new elements + deleted this dialog = 4.72.3612.1722
Sfor
The printer bitmaps are displayed on the taskbar, during a printer job processing.

If they are taken from the Explorer.exe, they should not be removed.

--------------

I made an experiment. The icon with printer and red exclamation mark is displayed on the taskbar, when a printer error happens. I found no other copy of this icon in the shell32.dll. So, it is taken from the Explorer.exe, I believe.
spplus
Marxo, just tell me what you talking about? About Bitmap_3.bmp? About Icon_3.ico? About Icon_5.ico? These 3 elements you can view in an archive Explorer-plus.rar We cutted Icon_3.ico and Icon_5.ico from 32x32 & 48x48 icon formats, because in a taskbar never they are displayed in these formats. It was classified that it is a spam. Of course as said sfor, are needed. In a shell32.dll is the same icon --> Icon_17.ico = Icon3 from explorer, but there is no exist Icon5 from Explorer.exe in shell32.dll. In Explorer.exe exist icon that representing Recycled what is in shell32.dll as Icon_33. What we should to remove this spam? Explorer.exe - removed Icon3(printer1), Icon5(printer2), Icon7(recycled); Explorer.exe should import these icons from shell32.dll. Icon5 from explorer.exe - moved to shell32.dll. So in this case Explorer.exe will weigh 125kb and I think that will be very, very fast.

Since I have to explain I'll do it properly.

The only thing I am interested in is this Bitmap_3:

Since this bitmap should be used in Start Menu Properties, and it's not (I can't find and option that will show it to me in that dialog) i am wondering if this can be removed.

So, like I said previously, this bitmap now weighs less 1,31 kb. Satisfied?

It's not really about anyone's satisfaction here, it's about removing the bitmap, not making it 1,31kb smaller. If it isn't in use it should be removed. Pure logic.
