I am using vista home premuim and I want to use wmp 11 for all my files music, videos etc. I was using K-codes and I used xp codes but had windows classic which I could play rm & qucktime movie but since I found Vista i installed, it plays quicktime but how do I play rm and it won't play wmv, I have to convert them, Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Its a hard lesson to learn but those other codecpack installations have borked your system. I make this stastement on the fact that you cant play wmv. This format is fully supported by the operating system and if it isnt working I have no other fix for it other than to format your hdd and avoid crap codec installations next time.

As for realmedia, VCP fully supports rm/rmvb playback in WMP11 and MediaCenter.
For streaming realmedia, Media Player Classic must be utilized.
If this isnt working for you either, I give you the same reason as above, same solution.
Format your computer, re-install Vista, , avoid installing the crap thats damaging your system.

Thanks for the quick respond, But my system is running great sp1 installed and not problems except wmp not playing wmv, and reformat a hard drive, thanks but no, how could a codec corrupt a whole system ? nothing else is wrong. thanks for all the help

I just noticed that you have an x64 OS.

Realmedia is not supported in x64players. There are no realmedia x64 codecs in existance.

As for the wmv format, you might try turning on WMV audio and video decoding in the ffdshow shortcuts.
BUT, this isnt the right way to get it 'fixed'. Figuring out what is broken with wmv on your system is anybodies guess.
