I've been usin the winamp 5 beta, and gotta say, its awsome. Fast loadin, doesn't mind loadin lots of files, great control, takes up bugger all memory, Love it! Brfore this i switched back and forth with 3 and 2, ones got good skins, the other loades faster and has less problems. 5 is...yay! I havent used much else, but don't want to

DJ2000 Been using it for 'bout 5 years now. No other program has as great of an interface as DJ2000. All of the others drive me crazy.

Stephen, you're obsessed with iTunes and your iPod! laugh.gif
sven
no, just that my ipod needs itunes to run, and its almost like musicmatch, but with the 20 $ upgrade
rstryker
I use Media Player Classic for everything. thumbup.gif
Crispy
I tend to use Winamp5 alot ... but recently I've been using WMP9 alot because Trubass/WOW sound great when using a new subwoofer that I found ...

sven
un4given1, I have never heard of DJ2000... Where can I find it?
DataMiner
I like foobar!, Its not for everyone though since it lacks a gui.

I used to use winamp but for now foobar does it for me ^_^

@sven dude u're really a "big mac" fan (not macdonalds tongue.gif)
I use winamp, now it can open videos its cool.
I use powerdvd's for dvd's
winamp for music
quicktime for qt.
media player for the rest.

I tried others but I'm not into the videos that much these days. I keep watching dvd's, so powerdvd's runs all the time.

media player no good for dvd's

for those who use winamp and have many mp3's select the options tab and on "Read titles on" change it to play. This should speed up winamp a lot!! Winamp never crashed. neither 5 but I use base skin, no need for fancy skins.
Media player crashes too often.
I hate Real media player!!! <--- I avoid downloading .ra, ram. etc.

@un4given1 I just checked DJ2000, does it have a skin to make it smaller? it seems like it takes all the resolution?
un4given1
It has different modes you can view it in. Download the demo and check it out. The kewl thing about DJ2000 is that you can use it as a library and pick programs to launch for media files, and then when you click on one it opens it in another program.

Windows Media player is enough for me
Visentinel
Anything is better than WMP

but when WMP9 came out its got the best sound quality i have ever heard. DFX and WoW calibrated to a harmonious relationship and youve got some serius Media Playing biggrin.gif !!!!!!!!!
sven
im NOT a mac fan. i just love the ipod and itunes. You can take the mac computers and throw them out teh window. i just love my mp3 player. and gamehead. did u notice more people are getting ipods because of me?

I've moved up in the world, as winamp5 is no longer a beta. I use power DVD, Mediaplayer clasic, and WMP9 for the other formats (video), theres also some over lap, cause sometime WMP9 crashes, and....Strangle nearst object at thought. Media player classic is good for alot of incomplete files too. It runs just about all of them.
Lost Soul
im using wmp, it seems to work just fine,,smile.gif

i use a little app called tray play, i wrote it myself, it plays movies of any format including dvd's(providing you have the correct codecs), it also has a preview window so you can watch another movie in a small window whilst watching a movie in the main window, it has custom playlists and because it only uses win32api uses hardly any resources, in fact the only thing wrong with it at the moment is if you try and resize it it goes a bit skewiff(am working on it at the mo, and i am having a few problems getting it to run from the systray)

if anyone wants to be a beta tester once i have ironed these problems out then let me know
dancity
Windows Media Player, does everything i want from a music player in Windows. SO i voted for that.

cool.gif
Carmon
I use windows media player Quick n Easy
Owyn
I use winamp for all audio, because I listen much musik trackers (.mod, .s3m, it... ect.)

Only use WMP for CD audio.

Sounds good to me - count me in!
prathapml
winamp 5 rocks - such a lot of things in such a small package - and dare to show me another app that does all that wa5 does with such a small memory foot-print and HD space.

Of course, the pro features are another attraction.
prathapml
have you noticed that winamp 5 no longer plays .asf files if you have the K-Lite codec pack installed ? (maybe the BSplayer of the pack interferes with wa5). Only WMP9 gets to play wmv and asf if you install the k-lite codec pack.
beeboy
I gotta go with the new Winamp. Great plugin support. Plays all my monkey files and most everything else. Pretty good video in this version too. I use Real Alternative to play any real media I come across.
devil270975
a little update on tray play, i think i will call it will not tray play...lol... got resizing done now playlists gone skewiff, and i am having trouble with file association. but still working on it. starting to look a little like media player now though, i think i need to redesign it a little.
Papa Smurf
I use Media player 8 that came with XP. I like it and have some very nice skins with it. I have the Plus programme on the beast as well and it added some useful things to Media player.

I havent used Winamp since version 2? Maybe I should consider the new one? woot.gif
magicfly
I've always used Winamp since its first version!! woot.gif
Too nice and reliable, even if the last version (5.01) is a bit slow instead of its previous version (but full of new features) welcome.gif

Bye thumbup.gif
XtremeMaC
WinAmp Forever!
why is the new one slower???
are u using the modern skin?
Thanatos
I use WMP, I tried winamp, but it was too heavy and featureless IMO. Its a shame there aren't many decent skins for WMP
squallgreg
WMP 9 is great and will be integrated in SP2 thumbup.gif

it lacks of good skins tough sad.gif
probably harder to make a user-friendly skin for WMP than for winamp
jrzycrim
Itunes for me. If I need a quick preview, I use Irfanview.
exiteable
me ive always gone with Winamp i stuck with the 2.91 std for ages i like the new one its cool but i like to play music in just 1 and watch vids, dvds etc in 1 main other player i agree with most wMP is buggy but good. Ive stuck with Power DVD latest and before i like that one but another ive always felt gets little respect is BSP
known in our pad as bull s..t player hehe ...
dev2761
blushing.gif Personally I use Media Monkey for my libraryof mp3z.
But..... VLC is really excellent as it reads everything from DVD to music playlists.
Okay its not very pretty but the good thing is works.
Oh, and if I just want to listen to a song that I've just downloaded I use Picaview.
Rekenaar
@dev2761 - you really dug out an old one here.

WMP for me (since the topic only covers music).
Zxian
Winamp for audio. WMP9 for video.

I tried using Foobar2000 for audio a while back... just didn't have the right feel to it. Winamp 5.08e with classic skins, Global Hotkeys, and the Media Library just can't be beat.

WMP10 is just big a fugly... too much fancy crap in there. WMP9 with the classic skin is good enough for me.
Maelstorm
I personally use Sonique.
sonu27
I use Windows Media Player 10.

I also have used Winamp since v2. When 3 came out I didn't like it, took too much ram. So I never used it again.
Dobby
Winamp 2 rocked, Winamp 3 sucked and Winamp 5 is back there rocking at the top!!

With the Tara plugin it'll play those quicktime and real media vids too and I found the cleanest skin ever. It's called Classix, It's a modern skin but all the buttons and text are highly readable without being bulky. Plus it comes with loads of different colors. The slate color match perfectly with my Codename: Opus Alpha XP visual style smile.gif

The only problem I'm having at the moment is getting Launch.com videos to play. I don't think I can do it Winamp so I've been trying VideoLan and Media Player Classic but I keep getting a save this file prompt from firefox when it trys to open the medialog.asp file that comes from launch. Ah well a minor problem.
pre
Winamp... It really kicks (cencored) newwink.gif
Andrew932
Windows Media Player and WinAmp biggrin.gif
Dobby
I'd just like to add that this set of 'lite' codecs really help when wanting to play everything in one player. E.g. no RealPlayer, Quicktime or Media Player.

CodecsLite
EchoNoise
I use a mixture of MusikCube, FB2k, 1by1, Winamp Extra Lite, and VLC smile.gif
Maleko
WinAmp all the way.
Although its a pain there new one doesnt support the microsoft media keyboard sad.gif
XPero
Windows Media Player 10 (Crescent) forever thumbup.gif
Astalavista
