I just bought budget Sound system called X-540 from Logitech...
I quickly plugged all the speakers and subwoofer.......
Than i played one of my favourite movies Saving Private Ryan....
But i can't get rear speakers to work and i also tried other dvd's...
- Im 100% I correctly plugged my speakers and connected them to my PC....
- I have on-board sound card that is more than enough to run my speakers (Gigabyte P35C-DS3R)
Must i uninstall sound drivers and reinstall them ?
Is it because i used to have 2.0 stereo speakers and windows still thinks it's 2.0 ?
I tried to configure the system in realtek HD audio Manager but no success.. when i click the pictures to test the speakers i hear rear speakers in front ones....
Must i install any Logitech software?
Any Ideas ?
thnx

There's a LOT of factors:
-if the movie you're playing actually has 5.1 sound (i.e. not a rip with stereo/mp3 sound)
-the player you're using (PowerDVD, MPC, etc)
-the actual codec the player is making use of (e.g. AC3Filter) and its configuration
-some speakers/amps have settings for various listening modes
etc.
There is no easy answer to give here. You're going to have to toy around.

Have you checked all the plugs are in their correct locations? You'll notice that there are 6 plugs, but only three cables for your speakers (FL/FR,RL/RR,Sub/Center). Check your motherboard manual for the correct plug configuration. Chances are you've swapped cables around since you're getting sound from rear, but nothing else.

well just as you said, windows still thinks your in 2.0
what OS are you using? go through the control panel then to sound and configure your speakers.
btw, playing that movie on my klipsch promedia ultra 5.1 was unbelievable, especially the whole beach scene.

Indeed.
Click that red speaker Icon and set it to the 5.1 speaker configuration if you didnīt do it already
