Hi all,

i studied today a lot about multiboot dvd creation at msfn
first of all thanks for all topic starters and contributors
all of you are helping a lot... thumbup.gif

situation:
to create a multiboot dvd with VistaSetup, VistaPE(Winbuilder), MS DaRT6, WinPE2 etc....
i exported the all images in different wim files into one single boot.wim with help of imagex
but during booting Vistasetup(1st index) is initiated and there is no select-menu for other images

question:
How can be booted from a specific image index out of boot.wim
if it contains multiple (many / more than one) images

How should be the BCD (bcdedit) edited to solve this situation

if this is possible we can save a lot of MBytes and optimize the cd size
rather than the solution to keep different bootable wim files
and adding entries for them in BCD

thanks in advance and
hoping your comments

i am posting a collection of links reagrding multiboot....
from where i learned how to make such multiboot....

link compilation

bootmgr: singleboot/multi-install vista-unattend, vista-manual, vista-vlite

for unattend-vista
1) either dont hold the "unattend.xml" on the source-dvd but at the root of a floppy or usb-stick during installation
as unattend.xml is placed and searched usually on the root of the dvd
the xml-file will be used by all install images on the dvd which we dont want
2) or create sections for each and every install-images in the unattend.xml and place it on the dvd

technet states that only one image in a wim file can be flagged as bootable
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771845.aspx
quote: "...Although a .wim file may contain multiple images, only one image can be marked as able to boot from RAMDISK..."
so i am sceptic about myself that there is even a solution for that wacko.gif

current solution
from the following post
http://www.msfn.org/board/vista-t114092.ht...982#entry747982
i learned how to make such a multiboot dvd with vista-setup, winpe, vistape etc.
=> just rename boot.wim to boot1.wim, boot2.wim, winpe.wim etc....
=> and add entries for them in BCD
drawback: wasting cd/dvd size, size cannot be optimized
3 x 200MB for three wim files than round 300MB as one single optimized wim file containing 3 different images

as i am a newbie on this forum please forgive any mistakes regarding "forum-rules"
