I need 2 make security on Share folder to allow ppl 2 edit word or excel 2007 files but can't delete those files
I have XP OS and Office 2007

1st i create a share folder and the permossion of share folder was like that

then on Security tab i removed administrator Group and system and let only the user Oxygen , and Oxygen is a member in Administrator Group and it will b like that

then in advanced i will edit the permissions 2 clear the allow checkbox from Delete Subfolders and files and Delete and will b like that

then i enter the Share folder and create new txt file with notepad and edit this file and i can't delete it ( that's my object ) and everything goes fine and the same when i try 2 do that with doc file ( Office 2003 )

but when i create docx file ( Office 2007 ) and try 2 edit it i can't and there is this message

and it create 2 temp files like that

soo i know that the problem from the Office 2007 and not from the security or my OS coz i try it on Server 2003 and the same thing happened

soo can anyone tell me what shall i do plz ??

Why do you post this in multiple subforums but not in the one about Microsoft Office 2007 ?

you will need to change where office is saving it's temp files.

Apparently you can't. I thought I remembered seeing this as an option.

Word creates a new file on save by renaming the temp file and deleting the original. It's the way it's designed.

The autorecovery feature in Word can be something you're running into as well
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/1076...FR=1#appliesto

The specified permissions are included in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/277867/en-us?FR=1

If your folders are on a network or mapped drive you may be able to use the setting in Word 2007 Advanced options (Alt, F, I, A) in
the Save subsection for
[x] Copy remotely stored files onto your computer, and update the remote file when saving"

actually i checked ur links and i don't think that my problem is the temp file , coz the temp file only created when i can't save the docx files , and i wanna tell u that i try it locally on one computer and and the same thing happened

and my security permission is OK coz i can edit in txt files and can't delete is and that is what i'm seeking 4

soo i don't thinks it is temp files problem

and thnx for ur info
