Because i didn't find any other IE8 Final addons around here yet.. i just localized my german addon i made yesterday fo you guys:

German Version tested and working - here`s the english one:

So, just need instructions (plus the INF files) on "how to create the package" for each (since several are necessarily different). True?

Why the KB968220 included? MS says it's for Beta... Part of the "Update" process via install directly using the Package Executable (the "option")?
EDIT - ok, I see this in "optional updates" in Windows Update.
(note - clean install XP-SP3 + IE8 Executed after Download from MS, no Updates)

- sqmapi.dll is "up for grabs" as per difference...

Just thought of reporting a problem with it:
When I do a the first login with a Limited User Account (Non administrator), I get a access denied error message of trying to install a .inf

Ok, anyone reading this thread...

By inspecting the OP's package, one can infer what needs to be done for the other packages. I already indicated as such for Server2K3. Therefore, anyone having x64 should be able to replicate this fine gentleman's efforts for their own purposes (those of you having x64). Information about how INF's are constructed can find this here. I plan on testing this with both the XP and 2K3. Just be so kind as to give credit where credit is due.

Sereby these reg entries cause that advanced inf error, during XP setup its fine but once you have loged in and you try to add it to the registry your inf may fail

Huh! These entries are in the "Update.inf" of original IE8RTM package (?).

"%CLSID_IE_TypeLib%" ??? Which INF is that from? Don't see that line anywhere...

After using this add-on with SP3, I can not access Windows Update. This is the only thing I added to my XPCD. Windows Update gives the error 0x8DDD0004.

submix8c, %CLSID_IE_TypeLib% is a string used in IE.inf and defined at the bottom under [Strings]. Enjoy, John.

EDIT: The string variable value is {EAB22AC0-30C1-11CF-A7EB-0000C05BAE0B} and is found multiple times in update.inf of the original IE8. John.

i have an .iso image prepped with IE7 (and WMP11) if i integrate this addon will it give me a fully working version of IE8 and hopefully not interfere with the contents of the .iso?

it is recomended to start from scratch and not use an already integrated iso. it might work but also it might not......

For me it messes up something with the rights on \Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer as I can't create "Quick Launch" folders in it for any user. I had to create it with a PE. I'm pretty sure it comes from the addon as I retried without it and it was solved. ...But no IE8

updated to v1.0.7

for own languages:
- replace the .mui files in IE8.cab with your own
- replace the .chm files in root and inetres.adm with your localized
- copy your localized [Strings] sektion to IE.INF
- modify in IE8.inf the following lines:
Copy.IEM.Local = 17,"IEM\0407"
Copy.IE.Local = 16422,"Internet Explorer\de-DE"
Copy.Sys32.Local = 11,"de-DE"

and insert your language..

for example 0409 and en-US

three questions:
1) What do I do when my localized IE8 don't have a IE.INF file?
2) My localized IE8 also didn't have a cabinet (.CAB) file, the .mui files where simple all scattered in the installer folder, does it matter?
2) Copy.IEM.Local = 17,"IEM\0407" where do I find these language codes?

I still have the problem that no "Internet Explorer" folder is created in ...profiles\Application Data\microsoft\ and so also the "ShowDeskFix" that runs from RunOnce has no effect because the folder is missing. I can't have QuickLaunch unless I manually create the \Internet Explorer\QuickLaunch folder myself. I even tried an addon to add QuickLaunch.
Am I the only one in this case ?
