I saw this on a different forum, about something else entirley, and thought it would apply here too.

What would you define as the "line" that needs to be crossed?

What is done on another board that I use is they keep you from getting an Avatar until you have a post count of 100. Of course by doing this you have to watch out for the SPAM poster just to get to a 100. But we need to define "n00b" first and then decide.

A n00b is person without his own personal unattended CD

A n00b as person that doesn't know how to install an os. and/or build their own system.

I agree with the above statements, being a n00b cannot be decided by post count. Alot of very intelligent people here have low post counts, and I believe it is due to the fact that some questions and/or posts are not fit to be responded to, people are still trying to figure out how to read and use google I guess.

a n00b stops being a n00b when they stop replying to threads saying "I don't know, maybe someone else will help you!!111".

(that's just plain annoying btw!)

Depending on the definition of n00b post count can be used. However I tend to agree it is not one of the best ways to go about it.

i think it must be a complicated change much like puberty when they seem to know general things about the internet, forums, this places history and can start helping people out

a newbie is just someone who hasnt learned something yet and needs a few pointers, they have a brain and can figure things out for themselves still.

A newbie is someone that only knows how to use the internet but has 20 coaster cd's trying to make unattended cd, slipstreams, and multi os cd's....but at least they are trying...
