Hello

Im using a unattend.xml with Windows 2008 Deployment server.

How can i automatically select the serial number on the machine and use it as computer name in an unattend.xml ?

And then i want it to join the Domain.

bumping this as well...i'd love to know how to do this. I find it hard to believe with the variables that are out there that there isn't one we can just plug in for it to use!

You would have to find a way to rewrite the computername field of the xml file BEFORE the setup routine runs (ala MDT or SCCM). Other than that, there's no way to do it other than using a script to change the computer name afterwards. Either way, this isn't a feature of Windows setup.
