This file adds to your registry to create the color schemes.
http://downloads.locias.com/shared/WinXPColors.zipJust run the two registry files and you can have a blue-style WindowsXP look/feel.

This work for Windows 2000? I know this is "Customizing Windows 9x/ME/2K" forum/section. But i gotta make a 100% sure. Last time i screwed the system by running another cheapo tool that did this and more.

I believe it should, though I cannot make any guarantees. This is a registry file, two actually. I'd give it a shot if I were you, but I would BACK UP THE REGISTRY before doing so.
You can also right click and choose Edit to see the insides of the regfiles.

Just tried this on Windows 98 SE (Virtual PC 2004). All it did was turn everything blue. Didnt get the feel of WinXp or anything like that. Perhaps, I am missing something!!!

I'm not running those files right now, as I just did a fresh install. But I believe it made the menu's a whitish color and a few other things.

You are right, it has made some very minor changes.

Yeah, that's pretty much all it does. I saw a desktop theme to emulate Windows XP and I just basically copied how the colors were set up. Why run a memory hogging theme when it only does colors and sounds?

I ran both registries before reading your post about backing up registry. Now im a bit fked. I can't even choose Windows XP Blue or Style. When try clicking it won't go to it, its like secretly disabled but i see them there. Anyway all i can do is goto Windows classic and not even Windows standard.. ARGHHH!!
edit: btw that snapshot the other guy posted doesn't really give you the XP feel except for the dialog colour. Maybe make the outilnes a DARKER blue instead of a lighter blue? Windows 2000 is as good as XP and probly better, so why not make a perfect clone? maybe with pictures too.

Windows 2000 is one of the best OS' available. Has anyone noticed how games/apps and such require double the memory in XP than they would for Win9x/ME OS'?
Kernel, if you still have System Restore, try to use that and go back to before you used those registry entries.
Personally, I never use System Restore on ME, I disable it. I use Goback by the company who is now Roxio, but I think that Symantec has GoBack at this time.
It lets you revert to other times in your pc, recover files, etc. Best util I've ever used.

Yeah XP is such a bad OS, its worst at running games, I don't know why everyone uses it. 2000 is by far the best as Everyone says. And i use Windows 2000 too. (btw, off-topic: Is Windows 2000 or Windows 2000 Pro better then all, or which one is better between pro and normal?)
And yeah i havn't got GoBack because it doesn't work on Windows 2000, and i don't know how to use system restore.. which i will find out just about now. But nayway do you have somehting that can reverse the Windows XP blue theme look? Like everything that were in those 2 registry files make them reverse to original or to default whatever.
Because i have no idea how to use system restore or where it is. I'm trying to find out now, help would be appreciated

heh, if you don't know the difference between Windows 2000 'Pro' and 'Normal' (which doesn't exist), then you probably ran a bad beta of Windows XP without even knowing.

On systems that run NTFS, (IE: 2000/XP, as I know both have "Pro" versions) the main difference is memory handling. The pro versions are "said" to handle memory (RAM, SWAP, etc) better.
Also, I can export my current registry where those XP items would be, however I recently cleaned it out so it would have the default and a couple of others. If this would help, let me know and I'll back them up for you.
