heya Guys my problem is this
iam installing Win98se on my Sister PC which is a IBM anyways ive formated it etvc and installed in everything buyt when gets to Checking Hardware bit comes up wiv Msgsrv Error and then stops the installation does anyone know wats causing this?

might check the microsoft knowledge base, i remember something about that but cannot remember what.

have you tried to remove everything no essential on the pc (ex. netcard, modem, soundcard, ect) it might be having a conflict with a driver. also try restting the bios to defaults. good luck

Yep Dun all Dat and still get the error but if i rember the Hard drive was Partition in half but i joined it bk together cud dat b part the prob?

did you try going into bios and disabling the sound and usb?
hmm....what o/s did it have on it before?

it had Windows 98se so it cant be the file system cuz i checked it
the hard drive 4gb its just a Basic Old 500mhz IBM Machine

well it dont come up wiv the Error no more just crashes and restarts but Hard drive is a 4GB maxtor

If i were you i would do a bad sector scan, find a tool that would do it for you, maxtors powermax should do the job
also if it has bad sectors download hddreg and give it a scan.
