Looks interesting, though I've already ordered the free updates CD from Microsoft. It is supposed to have all of the updates for all consumer versions of Windows on one disc. I should be getting it in a few days so I'll wait for it to arrive, and if anyone wants I'll post back and tell all about it.
I like this idea though, and that it is all in one package that installs only the needed fixes. Very nice find

just tried out the service pack and everything went fine, took less than 1 min to install, had to reboot after install. installed just like cab file, no buttons to push once the install starts. the icons are just replacing those in the shell32.dll, i think that it replaces the one already on the system during reboot. the desktop seems to be theme listed in the display properties on the appearance tab in the drop down from the scheme menu. the hotfixes are only missing two but then i dont have everything installed either. only ie6sp1 is installed. i would have to rate it a 6 out of 10. there is room for improvements but it is a very efficient install, no errors, the win2k theme is a great idea for win98 users. i would like to see msjvm & the latest version of directx & mdac included in it as well. it is just a wish list for some win98 users.

Ahh, I see what he did. It basically turns 98 into ME from what I can see. Heh.

Let's just suppose I wanted to change some settings that are installed with this package. I suppose after I make the changes I have to execute spupdate.inf, correct? How can I do this from a .reg file -- can I just do something like this?...
REGEDIT4
[HKLM\Path\To\Registry\Key]
"sesp12"="C:\\Updates\\SvcPack\\spupdate.inf"
...or, hot can I "repackage" it with me changes into a single .exe file with switches?

OK... I figured out the iexpress packager; but is spupdate.inf the only thing that gets executed? what about a post install task? hmmm... looks like I'll be tinkering around a bit. Thank goodness for virtual pc...

Just to clarify, this is for Windows98SE only, and can't be installed on plain old Windows 98?

Well, I installed this on my 98SE machine at work which was working fine EXCEPT for a hang any time I plug in my Pendrive. As far as I can tell things SEEM to boot more quickly, it changed my default system colors to Windows 2000 (changed it back to Windows Standard), and it stopped my Pendrive driver from hanging my machine.
Instead the Windows Mass Driver now hangs the machine (sigh).
