Odd request, I doubt anyone will have an answer to it, but has anyone tryed to put the hot plugable scsi aray form a old compaq proliant (486 type) on a adaptec aha-294x pci scsi controler. the spin up, then they spin up again. (I bet nobody can answer this one)

Ok it doesent have to be a adaptec balh balh blah, it just has to be a somewhat new scsi card, or any non compaq scsi card.
oh and ill take strange questions for $1000.

Not to bring up an old question but. . .are/were you using the SCSI card from the Compaq or just any old SCSI card?
A lot of the the SCSI adapters on Compaqs would have step one of the Raid controler burned into a chip on the card.
IBM also used custom EPROMS

I would have to guess that the RAID had a matching RAID card.
Are you trying to use the drives as "one" drive or five drives.
