I will continue editing this post and adding more apps as time allows. I did this pretty quick so if you notice a problem let me know and I will fix it. I was actually trying to get one big list up in one post. Makes it alot easier for people that try to search through a bunch of pages inside of one topic. One big alphabetical list just seems like it would be easier to work with.

personally, if theirs a program i cant find a switch for, i use the search, which spans multiple topics, so it doesnt really matter if its in any order

i should point out, this is about the 8th one here. Hence why the large thread was greated, where everyone just posts, AND it's request only (MCT....I'm looking at you....notice a couple of yours missing from that thread?)

It's always a good idea to start, but soon it gets bloated and people start making requests.


And as for the search, you people need a guide to do about anything don't you? Some people say they search for days tryign to find something, I try ONE search and I'll have what they're looking for. You just need to know how to work it, and always keep in mind, not everything was posted within 30 days.....

I understand what you are saying Alanoll. But I am going to keep editing the first post and adding the apps as I get the switches. That way if the thread does get out of hand the first orginal post will have everything that is needed . Dosn't really matter what people post after it. Hope I am making since, but if you think this is a bad idea, just let me know and I will not mess with it.

okay here's the deal u collect the switches in any format u like I'll put the html version

it's not like it'd be all that hard.

just before the first letter of each section put

there's your links, then just use <H2> and <H3> for your font sizes (I'm not original, but it's simple). <STRONG> for bolding things. </ (whatevert tag)> to close them, and you're done.

ok this post will completely go againest what i am saying but has to be said me thinks.

the problem with this type of post is everyone basically wants to add his/her 5cents/nickle what every call it.

what i think should happen is:
the application switchs/regedit need to become locked. basically to stop it being bloated.

if someone has a great application switch make your own post.

sorry ops i know this will mean lots of work. but they then use there admin powers and post int he locked database posts and delete the post made by jo bloe. this in turn keeps the posts down (less to wad though) and keeps the great info all in one easy to find place.

again if u want a request and u have searched now the only 5-10 page database instead of the 50-60 page mess and what u want is there the people shoue pm them flame them and delete the post.

if it is not there then let it get big with people offerig there sugestions. once an answer is made copy the final owrkign product to the application switch datadase.

thus saves heaps of bandwidth usage and storage space.

I can put all the reg files together
but they won't be sorted in a nice way like "hardware tweaks, this tweaks that tweaks"
that'd take a LOT of time..
I can sort them according to the "key"

hmm same might go for application switches but
ppl complain about some switches don't work for them, so i'd need to put the versions but anyways i'll see what i can do about it..

after putting all the regs together ppl will ask
"what does this one do?"
and writing that is kind of tricky

You all are coming up with some good ideas. I have thought of some of these things myself. Let me know what I can do to help, be happy to.
As far as what some people have to say about this post, I really don't care what happens to every other post after my first original. If the admins want to delete every single post afteter it to keep it small or whatever, feel free to. I hear you coming: "And what if it has been updated?" Well, the admins could make an email update or (maybe even better) another section on the frontpage with the newest versions of all available progs/packs to download, e.g.:

Hi there. I'm new here. found a lot of usefull tips/switches but this 1 doesn't work for me.

I've got O&O defrag version 6.5.851. The setup runs but not unattended, it keeps me asking to accept the EULA, install path and so on. Is this normal or do I make a mistake??

Having compleated my unattended disk already and frequently searching for switchs, i feel a place where all switches are located is a good idea. One thing not mentioned yet is syntax. Weather creating an Install.bat or Runonceex.cmd the syntax will be different. So when posting the switches for apps, maybe their could be a couple of entries showing the different syntax for the various install methords.

My switch ended up failing somehow. So I'm gonna try yours next

When using the command "pskill", I get an error stating that the command doesn't exist (Bad command or file name).

What about Quicktime 6.5.1? I've done a search here and on google and can't find a silent install switch except creating a QuickTimeInstaller.ini file that you place with the full installer. Will this work if I include this app in GuiRunOnce section of my unattend file? Thanks.

I kept the .ini file with the full installer and it installed silently at startup.

Alcohol 120% should use this switch!

go to this folder or similar on your computer
X:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\QuickTime

there should be 2 files, copy them in your quicktime folder and it will install silently and with registration etc..

problem there is still the taskbar icon, sorry for that..

Could you please provide more detail about the applications switches for Real Player 10,

I found out that you can run an install of realplayer just with a progress bar by using the -p switch after the executable. I have no problem unpacking realplayer and getting the setup.exe. But I dont quite understand how to implement the /r/f1"c:\setup.iss" part of it. Also, I'm trying to find a way to avoid the registration part of real player, which comes up when you launch real player for the first time. Is there a switch or reg key that I can tweak in order to prevent real player from trying to connect to its network for registration.

Has anyone other than me figured out the easy way to install their MSI progs?

If you unpack the SFX EXE for programs such as Java 1.4.2_06, Kerio 4.1.2, BitDefender 7/8, and PC-cillin 2002/2003, you can install these programs from the command line with ONLY the /qb switch and it will NOT reboot!

And for anyone installing programs based on Nullsoft's NSIS installer (Winamp, CDex, etc.):

Just install it, tweak it to your liking, and save the contents of that program's folder into a SFX RAR... You can configure the SFX to make shortcuts on the desktop and Start Menu\Programs as it normally would...
If you're extra savvy on SFX's, you should copy the Registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\(program)
into a .REG file and set the appropriate command to execute that file.
Run after extraction > REGEDIT /S uninstall.reg
You could even take the extra step with Winamp5 and have that same .REG file upgrade you to Pro!
