If you're doing a CD, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT extract the files. Just overwrite the files in i386 and the unhacked one won't even exist on the cd.

@SovereignScorn: That good to know, but you know what the mods do to posts that go off-topic biggrin.gif
benjammin
how to tell what "version" of SP2 you have?
nolookingca
These files work with SP2 FINAL

Go to: Start, Run, winver. There should be something like xpsp_sp2_rtm in the middle

other than the termserv.dll and tcp.dll

why would you need these files? what does WFP keep you from being able to do?

and sp2 doesn't support themes? (is that why you need a hacked uxtheme.dll?)
nolookingca
uxthemes.dll allows UNOFFICIAL themes (non-M$) to work.

Sfc_os (the WFP file): see this page: http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/wfp.htm

IMPORTANT:
Unfortunately, I forgot a reg patch for the sfc_os patch. Please read the following instructions carefully if you want it to work. YOU MUST DO THIS FOR THE SFC FILE!
Don't worry about it if you aren't using that file.

Use this reg file: http://www.mantrasoftware.net/disable_wfp.reg

i am getting a "Setup cannot copy the file termsrv.dll" when using the hacked file? do i need to apply the reg patch before installing sp2? i thought that was after you had installed... or why am i getting this error? this is not a slipstreamed windows cd... i just extracted the sp2 setup and copied the hacked files to i386 then ran update.exe under the update folder? is there something else i'm missing?
XPero
It is some offtopic (sorry blushing.gif ), but it is an interesting recommendation:

If you are using nLite, DONT replace the original sfc_os.dll and apply the tweak for "Windows File Protection" in nLite. JUST appy the patch over the original one. Why?
If you replace the file for the hacked one and apply the tweak in nLite you will see "Windows File Protection" boxes very often.

thanks, bye welcome.gif

also... i just installed it with the regular termsrv cause of the problem above... but now when i try and use a theme even windows xp it gives me a "rundll" error... what's the freaking deal... this is becoming extremely annoying...

I can't seem to find tcpip.sys. I checked the links, they dont work.
nolookingca
@benjammin: If you're doing that, it's best that you apply the file after you install SP2. Instructions are repeated quite frequently in this topic.

Thanks for that XPero. I always had that feeling that I forgot something. biggrin.gif

@benjammin again: The theme thing probably has something to do with the uxtheme file.

@dkreifus: You have to download the file pack at the bottom of the first post. Remember the reg stuff for termsrv (reg patch attached to first post) and sfc_os (which I forgot to include, instructions available at top of first post)

Sorry for the comfusion, but I am working on a good readme and better formatted post.
dkreifus
Thanks. the link wasnt working earlier today

I believe it has to be sfc_os.dll
nolookingca
IF you're doing a CD, don't expand the files. Otherwise, follow the expanding instructions. You must keep the original file name except for the extension. e.g.
CODE
expand sfc_os.dl_ sfc_os.dll

Obviously the build in this topic works, which is build 2055, but still...

This is because this was the last build that let users have multiple remote desktop connections. Later ones had it taken out. When someone posts how to hack the file, you can be sure it will be up here.

HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\Licensing Core","EnableConcurrentSessions",65537,00000001

put this into hivesys.inf file, any line

tcpip.sys connection limit is 16777214 (xp-antispy saying this)
Warning WindowsXP-KB884020-x86 patch is restoring original tcpip.sys file
termserv.dll has just 2 simultane connections
ronnie_t
Here is the new hacked version of TCPIP.SYS with unlimited connections.

Here's how I have done it:
- I Installed patch WindowsXP-KB884020-x86-enu.exe after service Pack 2
- I ran Patcher Version 2.12 from http://www.lvllord.de. I set it to unlimited connections
- used MODIFYPE to correct the crc/header
- Used makecab with highest compression

So this file can be copied directly to the i386-folder on your cd.

TCPIP.SYS.....v5.1.2600.2505

I had to upload it in 2 parts, because this forum does not allow me to upload more than 150 kbyte

* fully tested * working

NOTE: According to M$, you're only supposed to user the pached version if you're experiencing problems.

@scankurban: that's what the reg file is for. (the hive part)

BTW, one "report" states that you should change SFCDisable in the second reg patch to SFCSetting

Ok Guys, heres the deal, i'm looking for everything and , with all the posts just getting bigger, who ever reads this, i hope they can understand where i am comming from.. everyday files are uploaded and its this version and that version, so most are not really sure what they usually download. to cause less confusion.. can someone from here, at least , post a zip, of all the files for build 2180 RTm Sp2 that work... if possible or if everything is even figured out... not sure what i am downloading with all the post i have read...

but i am looking for...

sfc_os.dl_ 2180 ( hex edited for wfp to be disabled, and the crc fixed for cd ...and with the reg file for disabling windows file protection) can't get mine to work..and I downloaded it from here...) so not sure...

sfcfiles.dl_ 2180 ( this files has something to do with being edited for taking annoying folders out that are copied be defualt r something.. not sure what, if you know, please help! and please post the correct one that works in conjuction with the hacked sfc_os.dl_ correctly..(i'm sure someone knows what I am talking about) unsure.gif

tcpip.sy_ 2180, (if solved) (also, hex edited for unlimited connections and the loop problem fixed. as well as crc header fixed for placing on cd...)

termsrv.dl_ 2180 (if solved) (edited to allow concurrent users, with of course the correct reg file that works in conjucntion with it...and hex edited, and crc fixed for cd placement as well...

uxtheme_dl_ 2180 ( for using themes, need the correct one for 2180, with header fixed, and hex edited and all that good stuff... )

Hivesft.inf 2180, (i'm sure this is simple since its already posted on the main site for the unattended, but have heard so many different ways to apply the setting , so not sure,, someone needs to clear this up and make sure we have it right... just thought i would toss that at ya.. so don't get Po'ed...

if we can get a definate package together, i think it would help everyone without haveing to serch and scan through millions of posts and pages... after all arent we also into makeing things easier on the message boards as well as unattended installs? sad.gif

not being bossy, just looking for the right stuff... id appreciate any help possible.. to make things easier for the people here who are looking for the same thing... smile.gif

hope we can get somwhere... thanks all and keep up all the good work... thumbup.gif

Hi Everyone
First post and like many up sh$t greek without a paddle with sp2, the major problem I am having is sp2 has fairly chocked my filesharing apz(tcp/ip). I have read throught all 13pgs of posts and would also find it very helpful if there was a one stop for all the files. Just wondering is it still the case that MS patch for tcp/ip(884020) just not change the max 10 connections and if so whats its point on the MS site?.When I do apply the tcp/ip patch is there a way of checking for sure if it has changed anything. Also is this patch meant for sp2 installed on H/D or just for an xp cd. IT tell me my version of sp2 is 2158 if that makes a difference

Thanks

Why do we need.If you want create like a original cd.You need this. And I'm using many registry tweaks without unattended setup. This way so easy for me.

cybri2k:
If you downloaded sfc_os a bit earlier, I apologize because I forgot to mention the reg patch.
there are posts that state you need to use SFCSetting for SP2 (everything else same)

uxtheme, termsrv, and tcpip, I have in the pack.

I have a copy of the hacked and patched tcpip. Will post later.

Did the one I sent not work for what you were attempting to do?

Is it possible to collect the files needed for the new Internet Explorer and backport it to earlier versions of Windows?
RogueSpear
At this point I would have to think that MS did a pretty good job of nuking the code for concurrent sessions from termsrv or someone would have hacked the most recent version by now.

And on the same topic. I cannot seem to get this hack to work. I'm starting to feel like a real chucklehead on this one. I've tried every which way but Tuesday to do it too. Used the reg entry, tried modifying the hive file so its integrated in the registry during setup. Nothing.

Now I remember reading in other threads that FastUserSwitching service needed to be running and that the hack won't work in a domain environment. Have these claims been substantiated? This hack would completely change my life in the some of the enterprises I deal with.

Does anyone know if the termsrv.dll fix will enable remote desktop sessions using an XP Home machine as the terminal server?

If not, does anyone know of another way to do it...perhaps with some registry changes?

PalmTree
Does anyone know of another download link for the files? The link in the first post doesn't work.

Also anyone that has the zip could just email it to me at james.mcphee@gmail.com if they don't mind.

Thanks in advance,
Palmtree

EDIT: never mind, after 2 days of trying the same link it finally worked smile.gif
nolookingca
sorry guys, been offline for a month.

@Palm tree: Sorry, limited bandwith. registering for a couple of new subdomains (free, btw) right now

Version 2.0 officially released. Still kinda raw. I recommend that you wait a couple of hours before downloading for me to do some error checking.

Question for you guys...

How would I replace the uxtheme.dll on Windows which is currently installed? I tried safe mode and through the prompt but continue to get a error that it is currently being used while overwritting it.
