Hello everyone I was wondering does anyone know how to make a permanent icon change to any .exe file inside of windows xp including .exe files downloaded

for example if I downloaded a .exe file from the net it would automatically change to the icon I had set. I know company's pack there own icons is there any way windows can detect this and use and icon I assigned.

Any help ideas greatly appreaciated.

Hey SiMoNsAyS thanx for the reply. I meant is there a way to make one global icon for .exe files. Meaning everytime inside of windows you see and .exe file you will see the assigned icon. smile.gif

i can't help u with that but what i'm sure it's that you'll need to have a look into HKCR\.exe, take HKCR\.txt as an example...

A quite old topic, but maybe someone'll find it helpfull. So, u need to change default value of key "HKCR\exefile\DefaultIcon" to location of icon you want (%1 means an icon in *.exe itself).
