Pls post why do u think one is better than the other. I currently use Download Accelerator for my Unattended XP DVD. I want broaden my horizons and see if there is something "better".

i personally like "FDM" (FreeDownloadManager)
u can get it here

its lightweight, uses low memory, & is compatable with all browsers, firefox, opera, ie

Free Download Manager is good MCT but needs work. When it gets certain features, flashget will seem like a joke, but for now I say FlashGet is the best download manager.
Astalavista
why is it a joke?

i agree, its still "limited" persay.. BUT its very good & free & has good browser integration now that v1.1 hit tongue.gif

u should add an option for "other" in your poll tongue.gif

Leechget > *

they have a free version with some limitations, I bought the full ver. Its a little bit more heavy on the RAM than other ones persay, but its great, and I got a gig o ram so Im not worried.
lilweirddude
i say leechget too

Astalavista not really a joke but make FlashGet seem childish or primitive. Maybe thats a better description of what I mean.

Well, I use/like neither of the two here... so no vote!

Reget Deluxe Download manager, any day. yes.gif
It has all the features found elsewhere, and more - in a light package that "just works" (no pun intended laugh.gif ).

As for the given options, DAP was a favourite at one time (years ago, in its v4 and v5 avatars). v7 is simply too "perceptible" - a download manager is supposed to function in an out-of-the-way manner (atleast according to me). FlashGet never really offered anything more than reget (all that was special, was referrer cookie ability for those who do warez downloads, and reget is not deficient on that count), so never needed it.

BTW, astalavista, no need to make us "see red", lol. Please put that first-post back to normal colour.

I haven't followed the lastest download managers, but I currently use flashget. It is the only one which will max out my bandwidth for the entire time of downloading the file.

Starting using it when it was freeware, but wouldn't mind a free alternative which is on par with it.

my suggest is to use LEECHGET, otherwise a good alternative is FLASHGET newwink.gif stop using DAP7, too many options, too big interface...it's not the best anymore smile.gif

I LOVE download accelerator 7... i love it!!!

but i am willing to give flashget a try, i need a mistress sometimes.
Radimus
I got tired of flashget and DAP7 being tagged as spyware everytime I ran a spyware scan... therefore Leechget wins

i'm sure you love it, as i loved norton antivirus...but at the end surfing on the net i understood there were a lot of better products around, so it's nice to change sometimes newwink.gif

I'm using MetaProducts Mass Downloader™ with my dialup connection. I tried LeechGet previously and although it was good (esp. the link parser), IMHO its interface was a clumsy (heavy on images), its multiple shell extensions were annoying, and it hogged memory.
For a free alternative, MetaProducts Download Express™ is my pick.
