You can like...grab it anywhere from the net (though it's not officially out yet), and tell me what the unattended switch is :/
battleangel3222
try the old one first!
Astalavista
where is the link?
tjhart85
Like he said, its not "officially" out yet. It is out on various web sites though.
Astalavista
i got the 6.6 edition, 81 MB interesting... in deed
prathapml
Yes, the old switch should work. It may not have differed the Setup by THAT much.

What's new in v6.6 Reloaded?
"Nero PhotoSnap" & "Nero MediaHome" i think.

QUOTE ( from a german journal mag)
I can see plenty of added features including Nero Vision Express v3.0, Nero Media Home, Nero showtime v2.0, Nero Recode v2.1, Fastest DVD9 to DVD5 Software in the world etc......
(Tested October 2004)

But the English Version is supposed to be on sale and download on October 18 2004
I have no qualms in waiting 2 weeks for such a good package. yes.gif

with this version the burning can be 80sec faster if u check the option in expert settings something called "provide short lead out" so no lead out writin needed! but it can maybe cause problems with some older CD Players
u will gain 12MB too smile.gif

Try checking if all of that is the main package.
For one, maybe its not compressed. Secondly, the 83 MB is all of the (previously) 3 separately downloadable packages from Ahead.de.

And lastly, if it still is too big, there's a topic in this forum regarding a customized install of Nero, with only the components you need. That person brought down size to closer to 10 MB.

@SimonSays
The 6th post in this thread (mine) has a link to details, check it out. And no, v6.6 is just speculation. For all we know, it could be v6.5 as well.
tjhart85
I downloaded it via BitTorrent and it seems to be packed differently. The normal switch needs to be modified.

When you double click the EXE, it uncompresses it (like normal) and then launches a setup wizard which asks you what you want to install. The normal
CODE
start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Nero\nero66.exe /SILENT /NOREBOOT /SN=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX /WRITE_SN
code doesn't seem to understand. I managed to get just the normal setup to install by finding the nero folder in %temp% and going to the "nero 6" folder and running the normal code that can be seen above.

I don't even know what NeroVision Express is, so i don't know if its even worth installing. What's it do?

About 30 seconds worth of looking at the Ahead website would have yielded you this.

QUOTE
NeroVision Express 2 easily leads you through the whole process of making Video CDs, Super Video CDs, and high-value DVDs.

Now you can transfer all your old home movies and start developing perfect home videos without any difficulty. Be creative and share the results with your family and friends. Store your memories safely on CD or DVD so that future generations will be able to enjoy them too.

For those commenting on the supposed size of the new version, I cannot say I am surprised by it. This same situation happened when the initial releases of Nero 6 were leaked. The installer came with all the parts combined in one installer and it had multiple languages.

I wasn't interested enough to actually go looking, or to ask the question by itself, but tacking the question on to what I was already saying only took about 5 seconds and was worth asking.

I was just trying to post everything I had found out. You can set up a silent install, but only each parts individually (at least thats what I found its more than possible that it exists, but i'm too stupid to find it).
totoymola
I figured out how to install this program silently, with the serial number written.

Note: My Nero 6.6 is the one that is 80.3mb in size, which I got from BitTorrent.

Ok, so here is how to do it.

1) Extract the files of the single file installer. (I used WinRAR.)
2) You will see several folders, and a setup.exe. But that is not the one that we need.
3) Go to the Nero 6 folder, and you will see another setup.exe there. That is the one that we need to do a silent install.
4) Use the old switch. That's it.

QUOTE
setup.exe /SILENT /NOREBOOT /SN=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX /WRITE_SN
totoymola
The only problem that I see here is it still creates the NERO DEMO in the start menu instead of NERO ENTERPRISE EDITION or NERO ULTRA EDITION. But I think it is not a problem anyway. biggrin.gif
ToBe
Yes, that works, but it doesn't install NeroVision Express or Nero Media Player, only Nero Burning Rom.
totoymola
By the way, this will install Nero 6.6 ONLY. So we can remove the NeroVision Express 3 and the Nero Media Player folder if we don't need them, in order to save A LOT of space. Because in my case, the combined size of NeroVision and Nero Media Player is about 130mb! Dang! That's a lot! But in case we want to install these softwares, we can simply do the same thing to them.
Astalavista
this thing is a monster, it is HUGE! there is got to be a way to slim it down some how, after extracting the file it is 122 MB that is after deleting nerovision and nero media player.

It is almost the same size as that of Corel Draw 12. newwink.gif

MCT
wow.. 122MB.. thats bigger then my XP CD (without the extra apps i have) tongue.gif

has anyone tried using 7zip on the highest compression?
prathapml
@Astalavista
Please don't post ed2k links or such. You well know the rules of the forum.

sorry did not know that emule links are not allowed.

since the link i provided is for the shareware version of nero 6.6

so would it be ok to post a link to the shareware that is not emule?
Jito463
I think I'll wait for the official release. 6.3 works fine for me atm, so no need to rush for the latest. I'll let them get the bugs worked out right and then release. smile.gif

Yes, if it is not a site that has any other warez. smile.gif

But software that is not released generally, is probably so for a good cause - maybe last minute bugs, or agreements with OEMs to make them feel special, so that it is available in the retail market a bit later. In such cases, its probably improper to have the unreleased software, and still be on the correct side of the law.

Unbundling:
Some of Ahead’s programs are distributed as OEM (original equipment manufacturer) software. These are only legally distributed when “bundled” with specified hardware.
Unbundling occurs when the OEM disk is not sold with the bundled hardware. Unbundling violates the software license and constitutes copyright infringement. Ahead clearly marks its OEM software “Licensed for use with the sale of a CD/DVD recorder only.”

Duplicating:
It is copyright infringement to duplicate and distribute any of Ahead’s software, including OEM software, even if there is no attempt to pass off the software as a legitimate disk made by Ahead. End users are not authorized by Ahead to copy the software for anyone else—be it a friend, relative, coworker, or internet acquaintance.

Don't post the link. I will remove it. Sorry. Just saw that on Nero's website, and don't wanna get MSFN in trouble. Though what goes on in private, we can't control.
Astalavista
got it! smile.gif
Shark007
silent install is pretty well the same as it was with other nero packages.

1. right click the Nero*.exe that you downloaded
and choose 'Open with winRAR' from the drop down menu
2. from the winRAR headings go to 'commands' followed by 'add archive comment'
3. copy/paste and Overwrite anything that is there with the entire text from below

CODE
;The comment below contains SFX script commands

Setup="nero 6\setup.exe" /SFX /SN=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx /WRITE_SN /SILENT /NO_UI /NOCANCEL /NOREBOOT
Path=%temp%\Nero6600
TempMode
Silent=2
Overwrite=1
Title=Nero 6.6.0.0 Ahead Software AG

EDIT:
1. of course the xxxx-xx's need to be replaced with your supplied serial number.
2. when i tried to reduce the size of the exe, i also had errors on install.

Shark007
Astalavista
wow

so this method makes the runonceEX.cmd coding much simpler.

i remove the other folders i don't need, i hv slimmed it down to 52 mb

i just test it... it works

but it says it is a demo even if u enter a valid serial?
Shark007
After installation, i have this result:

Shark007
Astalavista
did u change the xxxxxxx-xxxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxxx-xxxx

either that... u don't have a valid serial no.
neotron
@Shark007: nice method newwink.gif

do u know, is there also a way of installing VisionExpress like that?

would be great woot.gif
prathapml
@neotron
Its the same switches for NVE as well.
"/SILENT /NO_UI /NOCANCEL /NOREBOOT"
neotron
thx

so would that be the correct way of doing it? :

CODE
;The comment below contains SFX script commands

Setup="nero 6\setup.exe" /SFX /SN=xxxx-xxxx-xxx-.../WRITE_SN /SILENT /NO_UI /NOCANCEL /NOREBOOT
Path=%temp%\Nero6600
TempMode
Silent=2
Overwrite=1

Setup="nerovision express\setup.exe" /SFX /SN=xxxx.xxxx.xxx.. /WRITE_SN /SILENT /NO_UI /NOCANCEL /NOLICENCE /NOREBOOT
Path=%temp%\Nero6600
