I am trying to use a Lexar Jumpdrive secure with win 98 SE.
The driver provided by Lexar Media requires MFC42U.DLL -
the version of MFC42.DLL for Unicode. The unofficial Win98
SE service pack provides MFC42.DLL not MFC42U.DLL and
if I just download and copy MFC42U.DLL if fails to load with
a message saying that it will only work on NT.

The Unoffical service pack says that it installs Unicode but
the MFC42U.DLL sill doesn't work. Any idea how to get it
to work?

your sure you downloaded the one for windows 98 se?that dll needs to be put in the system folder
if you install the sp you don't need the drivers
i use a jumpdrive elite 256MB&512MB&1GB and it never gives me that
MFC42U.DLL is for windows nt not windows 98 se
the file that the sp gives is for windows 98 se
just dl MFC42.DLL from here: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?mfc42
put it in the system folder and try again
i know the sp doesen't often install the windows installer v2 for me so i just get it offa one of my comps that has it or just dl it and install it
if you need to Rename the MFC42.DLL to MFC42U.DLL
that should work

Open registry editor and check to see if the registry points to mfc42u.dll.
If it does rename the registry entry to point to mfc42.dll.
The mfc42.dll file that is included in the Win98se SP is much newer than the
one found at the dll-files web site.

The mfc42u.dll file is for NT4, Win2k, XP & 2k3 systems only.

he needs to do a search for that file to make sure it exists,he could extract it from the sp and place it where it needs to go
