Hey Guys
Just being curious, i wanted to know what would happen if i connected my playstation 2 to my Pc (Windows Xp Pro Sp2) using the USB Ports.
Would i lose both my Machines (like both exploding).
I'm sorry if it's stupid ? for a lot of you but i wanted to know.

it depends on how the playsstations port works. im curious myself lol. normaly those are use for stuff like mics, keyboards, ect. u also need the usb double A ended cable. im sure it wont explode, but depends on how the computer detects your playstion, it might crash.

Not much, you'll realise you wasted your money on the equipment to connect it.

Yes, it might explode due to particulate matter in the atmosphere rubbing against the USB's super sensitive short circuiting port. No, why the hell do you think both machines would explode. Ok, I understand your a noobie, but please, stop watching hacker movies lol. Connecting your PS2 to your PC does nothing. Now connecting your XBOX to your PC opens a whole world of untapped power.

What risk, risk that your ps2 will break? They break every year anyways then you gotta buy another one. This must be your fourth PS2 now. Whats the use of a ps2 slimline wow its small, and it scratches your disks thats great. I know the slimline is your baby sonu, but somebodys gotta open your fanboys' eyes and realise that there is a whole better and more fun world of gaming out there.
Also, something that really makes me wonder, why do you have on your sig that you joined MSFN exactly one month before your birthday and say it proudly like its something important?

Whoa dude... chill out a bit. There's no need to bash anyone or anything here. Thanks for letting us know that nothing would happen to either machine.
Do you know what WindowsXP says about the PS2 or XBOX?
And the PS2 doesn't break every year... I've had mine for about 3 now, and my friend has had his since they came out (and he's never had the laser replaced).

Stupid Dell... Why would you want to connect a PS2 to your PC? It really wouldn't have much use... It has no hard drive, so what would you do? I couldn understand with an XBOX, but PS2??

OK, but you wouldn't use a USB cable to do that... You would need a S-Video to VGA adapter...

buy hundreds of dollars of perhiperals to make the ps2 run linux and uhh burnt games, or pay nothing except for the xbox console and make it do anything (I mean anything computer-wise, actually better for roms and such, because you got the controller and the old fuzzy television) and be completely portable (it can fit in a backpack along with controllers and wires)

PS2 (even the old fat one) is much more portable than Xbox, and the Linux kit for PS2 (including keyboard and mouse) was less than $100. It's no longer available in America because some misled angry people feel like making false statements about such things

the x-box is pretty large.... the playstation is like, nice size, like the old systems (except not as high). i think the worse part is how microsoft just rips you off with it. pay to play dvds, and a subscription for online play?!?! thats bull crap. ps2 dvds built in, and online conectivity jsut needs adaptor (why include it in the big ps2 when there were no online games? thats why they made the slim ps2).

First of all you obviously haven't played xbox live. See, this is the 21st century. Big servers cost alot of money. So a small fee of 9.95 a month pays for that. If you've ever played a MMORPG like everquest or asherons call or lineage you would understand. A 9.95 dollar fee for EVERY xbox game is a good deal. Thats not bull crap. You're paying for QUALITY. PS2 online is crap! People come and play games on phoneline, you cant play fast paced action and have a headset and play with people with phoneline. There is no lag on xbox live its like playing on a LAN, you MUST have broadband to play xbox live. Xbox live had downloadable content so you can get new maps and vehicles etc for your game. Btw, you dont need to buy a dvd remote, you can just hack your xbox and it will do lots of things including dvd playback without remove. Also, the xbox remote is very nice, and most homebrew programs support it. I can select files from my network (say from my pc) such as a VCD or DVD movie and play it on my TV, or just transfer it to my xbox and play it from there. Also, you dont even need to hack your xbox to do that anymore, Microsoft has a MCE 2005 Xbox DVD you can buy.
Dont talk because crap is just coming out of your mouth.
EDIT: The xbox is large, but its also twice as powerful as a PS2. And it can fit in a backpack so you can move it around, or in a suitcase. It's the same size as most other TV equipment.

You know, some of us aren't spoiled brats and have better things to do with money than pay $10 every month to play Xbox online. YOU'VE obviously never played PS2 online, for lots of PS2 games are now broadband only. Yes, you can have lots of fun with broadband.
As for the feces coming out of our mouths, you wouldn't know, cuz you've never heard, seen (or smelled) us talk; this is an online mb. We're using our fingers. Also, respect others.
Also, with the size, we didn't say anything about it being twice as powerful as a PS2, the fact is it's still bulkier. A word of friendly advice in your arguments, try not to diverge from the point when your argument has objectively been shot down, accept defeat for that, and then come back with another argument.

Ooh. Japa Crapa. Ouch. I think you people should listen to the admin.
As for PS vs XBox, it is true that PS is slimmer, cooler, smaller, etc. I'll stay with the XBox simply because I like the name. Thre, you happy?

=/ People still play consoles?
I sold my PS2 ages ago to buy a better PC and never looked back. Consoles are too weak andy why pay for Xbox live when you can pay like that bit extra and have the internet on a PC to play online games and also do much more

I was wondering this same thing. This is for my boyfriend in the military. He is going to be gone for training out in the middle of no where. He has the tiny PS2 and a laptop. There will be no TV where he is. He could take the PS2 and laptop with him, but how does he play his PS2 games using the laptop? Basically, he just needs his laptop to pretend it is a TV.

With a Action Preplay Pro or something you can save your save on it.

@sonu27, probably you would need a chipped ps2. i doubt action replay can mess with it

i know some modchips let you use non-sony HD devices to be used as memcards or like game backups, i've read about it a few minutes ago. another important thing is that they let you save ps2-apps like media players on the memcard, this is a really nice feature as you can see your favorite divx movies without having a portable or home dvd player

(most important: is not illegal

)
lylo
Mar 2 2005, 12:45 AM
But isnt having your PS2 modded in itself illegal now? I know Sony are trying to get the laws changed so that even owning or selling the modchips are illegal, and if I remember right, in some countries they have succeeded.
SiMoNsAyS
Mar 2 2005, 05:58 AM
as far as i know, only in england some1 has been sued for selling modchips. he was condened but the legal process is not finished yet.
maybe some other country has laws against it but here, on my country, that's not the case.
i find logical that if you use your ps2 to watch your favorite vcds or play backups of your games (not possible without the chip), it isn't illegal.

No it is possible to save onto memory sticks.
Search google I'm sure you'll find something.
I heard from another forum you can, I think it was gtaforums.net.
You take lots of pictures in GTA: SA and save them on the stick, then use a programme on you PC to decode the files.

From what I've read and seen, almost anything (even an Ipod) will work. A few people said their SanDisk Cruzer Mini didn't work, but mine works fine
