George Carlin - If you understand politics than he's by far the best.
Robin Williams - If you don't understand politics then Robin takes #1. It's a shame he hasn't done a new stand up skit in a long time.

Jim Carrey wasn't very good in standup. The guy is funny to watch but his act doesn't hold up well without the visuals.
What I want to know is how this list got so long without one mention of Dave Chappelle...

With Jim Carry you have to see him live or on tv for the stand up to work...hes very animated. Without it its mediocre...seeing it makes the whole thing freaking hilarious!
As for my fav:
Old School-
- Richard Pryor
- Robin Williams
- Denis Leary
- George Carlin
New School-
- Dave Chappelle
- Dane Cook
- Louis Black
- Mitch Hedberg

Anybody see any of Andy Griffith's one man shows or heard the recordings? If you saw the movie 'No Time For Sergeants' and thought it was funny, his one man show of the same title was absolutely hilarious. His dialogues on baseball and the opera, ahhhh, you'ld have to hear them. Where to listen to them? I would like to know.

Im not into much old comedy, I think different comedians appeal to different generations because comedy is always changing and whats funny now will seem outdated in 10 years.

i dont know why so many ppl like him, hes okay, but i dont like comedy where you just make up stuff which is never true. he goes thru situations but i never find them funny b/c none of it is true at all

I've watched him. He's very funny and his cuts go both ways. He calls it the way he sees it and all to often, he's correct.

Carlos Mencia is also insanely racist! He's not on the Mind of Mencia on comedy central, but on his specials *WOW*... the whole show is about racism, every joke.

i was watching seinfeld last night, george likes banya's(i think thats his name) jokes and jerry hates them. george says that he likes them b/c you dont have to think. thats why i hate alot of the comedians, b/c they dont make you think, i love ppl like dennis miller and robin williams who have extremely detailed jokes.

He is correct because he is pointing out how racism is used in both directions. You don't have to be racist to see racist behavior.
