All,
I recommend that you should try this BETA on a test system, or on VirtualPC, or on VMWare.
Especially, I couldn't test 98lite Sleek support and Uninstallation support very well.
If you install it with or without problems, please write on this topic.
Please, don't write any new feature request for this version. All new feature requests should be for 2.1.
Special thanks to: MDGx, erpdude, CLASYS, Tarun, safir, hp38guser, DanyBoss, swgreed, egorz, sybesma, Rob, DuckDaffy, and all other contributors. If I missed your name, please PM me, because I will add a "thanks" section into 2.0 FINAL.

I downloaded this one, seems more stable than previous releases.
I examined your package and found this hardcoded path in both spupdate.inf and spuninst.inf:
CODE
[CustomDestination.Section]
49001 = ProgramFilesDir,5
35353 = CommonFilesDir,5
[ProgramFilesDir]
HKLM,"%CurrentVersion%","ProgramFilesDir","","C:\Program Files"
[CommonFilesDir]
HKLM,"%CurrentVersion%","CommonFilesDir","","%49001%\Common Files"
Have you tried yet to change this to:
CODE
[CustomDestination.Section]
49001 = ProgramFilesDir,5
35353 = CommonFilesDir,5
[ProgramFilesDir]
HKLM,"%CurrentVersion%","ProgramFilesDir","","%24%\Program Files"
[CommonFilesDir]
HKLM,"%CurrentVersion%","CommonFilesDir","","%49001%\Common Files"

that's not true. the same version (v4.5/en over win98se/sp) worked fine, before applying any of the SP's, in every shell swap option.

2.0 (BETA 3) has lots of new hot-fixes. Maybe some of them are not compatible with Spanish version.
What is your installation order?
Win98 -> SP2.0B3 -> Shell Swap?
I think, Win98 -> Shell Swap -> SP 2.0B3 should be better.

Gape: ALL version of your SP (since 1.5) worked fine with my spanish version of 98se.
The problem seems to be with the 98lite using the shell swap.
I' ll try the shell swap b4 installing the SP.

the MAX CACHE SPEED tweak:
Another Windows 95/98/ME limitation squashed! 1 down, 1 zillion to go... Ouch!

Forget what I told you about setting your Windows 9x/ME File System cache to "Network Server", detailed in "NETWORK SERVER", also in REGISTRY.TXT [part of W95-11D.EXE]. Those are only the maximum ALLOWED values from: Control Panel -> (double)-click System applet -> Performance tab -> File System button -> Hard Disk tab -> "Typical role of this computer" box -> "Network Server", and respectively "Read-ahead optimization" slider -> Full -> click OK twice -> reboot. This setting (highest available) allocates about 40 KB of RAM to cache the last 64 accessed directory paths and the last 2729 accessed files.
But you can further increase these settings BEYOND the Win9x/ME GUI limit, to the next level, otherwise unavailable from the System applet, to have your computer cache up to 3 (THREE) times more files and directories, and speed up hard disk performance substantially.
The only disadvantage is that this way Windows will allocate up to 3 times more physical RAM to the file cache, which is taken from the available memory pool, normally used by applications/games. Therefore I recommend doing this ONLY IF your system has at least 32 MB of installed RAM. This works best on computers with 64 MB and up... and who cares about RAM "shortage" if you happen to have 128 MB or more? :-)

Please note Windows WebTV is not included with localized Windows 98SE versions!
I'm going to remove it from the Dutch pack, ok?

For complete localization you need the following files from the
Windows Script 5.6 update:js
nl.dll
sco
nl.dll
scrrn
nl.dll
vbs
nl.dll
wsh
nl.dll
where the bold is the language code.
The files goes into the Windows\System folder, you have to specify these files manually in scr56.inf

@azagahl: 2.0 Beta 3 is quite stable, I have found some minor cosmetic bugs so far.
@cozetti: Good!
@hp38guser: It is not a problem, they are installed by other files (for example: MSDAIPP.DLL is installed by RBUPDATE.EXE). For slipstreaming support, they are in the SP2.CAB, too.

PowerArchiver 6.11 Update is now useless because of new RAR (v3) and 7z formats. I recommend some other freeware ZIP suites such as TUGZip, IZArc...
About Notepad problem: SP only patches Notepad.exe if it is original "Notepad.exe". Perhaps your Notepad.exe has different from original Windows 98 SE English Notepad.exe.

Rbupdate has a detection utility and two different versions of MSDAIP.DLL. It installs proper version.
SP2.CAB contains one of them for semi-slipstreaming support.

And can you be more specific?
What is the difference between the two files?
What is the slipstreamsupport? Can I just copy sp2 to my cd or what?
You don't have any documentation released yet about the sp.

OK

RBUPDATE has two versions of MSDAIP.DLL. One of them is for Windows 98 SE with Office 2000 or XP installed, the other is for Windows 98 SE without Office 2000 or XP installed.
It contains a detection utility for installing the proper version.
Semi-slipstreaming support (
as I explained before, nothing changed) is for slipstreaming most of the hot-fixes into Windows 98 SE setup. If you extract the contents of the SP2.CAB into your Windows 98 SE setup folder, Windows's setup will use these fixed and newer files during installation. I called it "semi", because it only contains the hot-fixes only, not contains all features of the SP.

Gape, why don't use a bytepatcher for that?
BTW, don't use MSI for the webfolders update but write your own inf. Then I'll be able to put it also in Dutch Service Pack.
This weekend I'm away, so no more questions from me until the final (RC?).
Please write that tutorial for translators (about patching files etc.)
