I have noticed several people requesting support for specific camera models.
Tip:
My sister and I are both published photographers, and at present, have eight cameras between us which we use on occasion, plus a few others on the shelf we no longer use, but used at one time.
As the more drivers you have the larger your reg file, I have never installed camera specific drivers, but just used a card reader to move the images from the camera to the computer.
Even folks who have only one camera, will be likely to have a different one at some time in the future, necessitating ANOTHER driver be installed - If you just use a card reader, you will not have to install anything, no matter what camera you, or your friend, took the picture with. In addition, if you carry a card reader with your camera, you can generally transfer pictures to almost any computer using anything later than 98SE, OR 98SE if the person who owns the computer has installed this excellent package.

I installed usb drives from the following site.
http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/usbmsd98.php. I was able to get my flash drives working but i connect to the internet using a Trendnet adapter to connect using ethernet to the usb port. (my computer only has 1 port and an old xjack connector but i do not have a phone line connection) I installed the drives because i could not us a thumb drive. Well after loading the drives, for the memory stick, my TRENDnet adaptor no longer worked. I get an error saying that i need to install new drivers. So i believe these drivers are not compatable. My os is 98FE.
I also get an error in my device manager for "ACPI battery" code 2 could not load drivers. Both of thes problems only occurred after loading the usb drivers.
I would like to know if there is a fix for this, or if not, how to isolate the new drivers and remove them. Any other drivers that would work?
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi!
I just installed Maximus Decim Native USB ver.3.3 and all of my eight usb devices worked perfectly, congratulations to the man that created this drivers.

The quesion is... my Windows 98 SE is a brazilian version, so after i installed the package some parts of the operating system were in english.
There is a way to restore this parts to the original brazilian language of my operating system?

Grab and install the following updates:
Q242975brz8,
BR291362 and
BREXPL98. This ought to get you back to PT-BR. You may have to unpack the latter with WinZip, WinRAR or 7-zip and install their files (user*.* and explorer.exe) by hand from pure DOS, in case you have higher numbered versions already installed...

My 98 SE is a original brazilian version with all the official updates installed from Windows Update and have no unofficial updates, except the Maximus Decim Native USB drivers.
There is a problem if i install this three updates that you recommended to restore the english parts to brazilian parts? Some of this three updates can damaged my system if i have lower versions files?

Is there a quick way to determine which version of NUSB I have installed on my 98SE system?
I'm thinking the last update I did was using Autopatcher around Aug-Sept 2007, but perhaps have got a newer version installed since then by other means. How can I quickly determine which one I have installed?

Does #2 mean remove root hubs and Intel82371AB/EB PCI to USB Host Controller from Device Manager?
Or is there another way to remove the existing NUSB 3.x? I know some version of NUSB was installed

I've learned by a private message that the version I have installed is most likely NUSB v3.1.
The USBSTOR.INF in C:\Windows\Inf is 20,771 bytes, and dated 05/12/2007 at 8:48pm.
Since I don't know how to remove v3.1, I hope installing 3.3 over 3.1 won't cause any harm.

I think I have a problem with NUSB3.3. When I first learned of NUSB (3.2) I installed it and got a nice (Updated icon+ other stuff Im sure) Sys Tray safe remove icon.
With 3.3 on a fresh autopatched sys I don't get that anymore, and when on my laptop I upgraded to 3.3 the icon no longer supported usb devices and limated itself to PCMCIA (Using the new icon)
Is this a known problem or has something happened.
I have downloaded a fresh each time so it can't be that I have a corrupt copie.

Today I bought a NEC chipset 5-port USB 2.0 seperately powered PCI card to use in place of my VIA USB 1.1 onboard.

No problem here with NUSB3.3 and the sys tray icon. I can left and right click the tray icon no problem to stop the drive. I have had all the versions working perfectly on my both my 98SE and 98SE2ME boxes.

Worst case scenario, could always put this into a link to open the Hotplug DLL directly.

Good to have handy anyway as a 'just in case' measure in the event explorer were to error out and so-forth.

Is there a way to invoke it to a background service like the rest of the systray (I know 9x doesn't call them that but at least you should know what I mean)

Open NUSB31 with WinRAR or 7zip and extract EXPLORER.EXE from inside it.
Rename it to EXPLORER.31 and put it into c:\Windows.
Reboot into true MS-DOS mode, and issue the following commands:
C:<Enter>

CD \WINDOWS<Enter>
REN EXPLORER.EXE *.33<Enter>
REN EXPLORER.31 *.EXE<Enter>

Before Autopatch, It was a fresh install. At the time autopatcher was on usb so I used nusb, then autopatcher then nusb again then (in other) rp9 then win98me then nusb again...
When I had it working (for the first time ) on my laptop I actualy now beleve it was a 2.x series NUSB (did a 2.x series exist)
Oh, by the way (back to your suggestion) It didn't work either...
I tried with another explorer called explorer.ori (whichever project does this) to the same effect...

Whether you refrained from answering my question on purpose or oversight is possibly not at present relevant but I will ask it again as it may help your fellow members answer your problem. At the moment they seem to be chasing their tails and going round in circles.
Is systray.exe definitely running on your machine?
Because if it is not running no amount of reinstalling NUSB, whatever version you try or changing explorer.exe version is going to get your USB tray icon back.
Now systray.exe gets disabled for a number of reasons, on purpose by the user or by mistake by the user, but don't just assume it's working because you have 'third party' icons in the tray, (firewall, AV etc).
If you are unsure over what systray.exe does then read the following thread in particular post#2.
http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=103225The version of systray.exe should be 4.10.2224

In the words of Alice in "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland",
Curiouser and curiouser!
If systray.exe is running then things are getting very much more complicated. This is where system file back-ups and disc image back-ups would have saved the day. Every PC I have ever built has 2x HDD's, a partition of the second drive stores Ghost images of the main drive going back months.
With NUSB3.3 you get systray.exe 4.10.2224 and hotplug.dll 4.10.2224 so reinstalling NUSB removes the possibility that these are corrupted.
However if you read post#71 of this thread, the problem has been seen before, but bear in mind that this was back in 2005 and NUSB3.3 does not contain any known problems.
Follow the advice listed in 1) Hotplug Icon Missing, but DO NOT edit the registry.
See if that shows any improvement in your problem.

) it was a recent re-instyall meaning there were no preivious states, not only that but again in the case of PC the icon has never shown the past 2 re-installations.
There is just one thing. On my laptop, where I origonaly had the icon and thought it was cool, the icon doesn't show when usb's are added however it does show for pcmcia cards, namly my network card. Take your pick of a
Disk Imaging Software. Boot from a floppy or CD (can be from the CD that has the imaging software) and make a full system partition image. If you happen to have both system and data in the same partition, then image it all. In case anything goes wrong, redeploy the image. You have to create the image of your system before adding anything else, in order to be on the safe side.
