I made an installer with it and it seems to work great, but I can't actually burn anything with this pc. Does anyone know if the "Unknown Burnphase" message still exists?

Please extract all contents from NCAB.rar again.
You probably got that message because you ran NCAB.exe once already, and now you are trying to run it again.
I apologize for that error message, I should of been a little clearer.

Thanks for the great tool, worked very well........... One funny thing, after a clean

install on hidden partition, nero setup fine but stopped at the 6min mark and never

moved, opened task manager and imapi was running, disabled it and all was fine?

Guess next time useing nLite I'll just remove imapi............

I've been playing around with this nero project for so long...
I wanna squeeze every last bit of bloat from this product that I can, but without sacrificing core features or functionality of course.

I'm releasing an experimental build for testers out there. Try it out and let me know how it works for you.

This release, I'm removing the 6 Redistribution Files located in Redist folder.

We don't really need these system files if we have WinXP SP-2 and later and presumbably Win2003 too.

Our system should have them already, plus they are newer than those that come with nero.

I can't be sure if Nero requires any deprecated features that are not available in the newer libraries. I'm just assuming they don't.

Doing this, we can save an additional 1.68 MB off of the final custom installer.
But if you're worry that it might cause some functionality problems with nero, you're still free to use my original NCAB.

If it works or doesn't work, plz give me some details, OS (Pro/Home), Service Pack?, n-lite or not, etc

Useing XP PRO, SP-2,RyanVM's full update pack v1.21, nLited down to 160mb, then

adding 400mb of progies and drivers...

Real time install, got one error with ReDist ver, "unable to register NEROPLUGIN.dll..."

kept Burning Rom, toolkit, express(just pushed "enter" on Express but still installed),

19+mb. Used installed ReDist ver to burn an ISO no problems.......... I don't use any

plugins.....if you need any thing else let me know............

tried your soft on Win2000 sp4 + winrar 3.5 beta +7Zip 4.18 beta+ nero-6.6.0.12.exe

but it stopped when searching nero-6.6.0.12.exe and said :

Nero building process FAILED!

It appears you do not have Nero Package 1 in this directory

and off course the exe is in the same directory.....

could you help me, or maybe ncab don't work on 2000 ?

I kinda figure there would be some problems removing all the redistribution files.
Okay, I'll be a little more conservative. I'm removing only 3 three DLLs (gdiplus, mfc42, and msvcrt).

I know why Nero StartSmart is not working.
Open Nero_Installer.cmd and go down to the section Nero Cleanup
and look for this line and remove it.

del "%ProgramFiles%\Ahead\Nero\SHORTCUT.DLL"

I think I was a little overzealous deleting unwanted features.
Normally I don't install everything, so I had no need for the StartSmart.
Just an oversight, sorry.

Well of course if you wanted to keep all the applications, I would use Nero's own installer. NCAB is for customization, and size reduction.

I'm very interesting in your way. However, I'm a Japanese who use Japanese-OS. So, it is not the best one for me, as you may understand. On the other hand, I found the old way what muiz said did not work for 6.6.0.12. (It works until 6.6.0.8 on JP OS).

I know your NCAB does not work on any OS except English. I tried to install multi-lang NERO. Then, NERO English version works on my OS well.
I uninstalled Eng NERO. I changed the Nero_Installer.cmd, "nres_eng" to "nres_jpn" and re-installed Nero6_Custom.exe. But still only Eng NERO appeares on my PC.

Do you know why does the NCAB work only on ENG OS? I want to change the language from ENG to JPN.

With international release,I've made my custom setup but when i launch it, the file is uncompress and next nothing...
I think it is a problem with the syntax:



when i launch manully nero_installer.cmd it is good or by command line i launch StartX /B /wait Nero_Installer.cmd it is good...

I think 7zip don't understand the command StartX /B /wait Nero_Installer.cmd, maybe we must do that with other solution?...

There's nothing wrong with that syntax, however because you use a french version of 7-zip, perhaps there maybe something different about this part of the syntax.

If you don't wish to install StartSmart, my script will clean it up automatically.

NCAB_Int+Lang_pack works well.　Great！
As far as I know, NERO after 6.6.0.3 is a multi language exe, so we Japanese did not need a language pack. We can see 15 files of nres_XXX.msgin in C:\ C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero after normal installation.
However, if I do not use Lang_pack.exe for NCAB_Int installation, an error message appears on my screen “When you are going to install system components, please install them via a control panel.". This windows erro message is the same message that I got when I install 6.6.0.12 by the old way. I have no idea how I can avoid the error.
Anyway, I can install JPN NERO without any problem by NCAB_Int+Lang_pack. Good.

1. Download 7-Zip 4.18 beta from below a site and install it.

2. Ectract NCAB_Int.rar in a "NCAB_Int" folder

3. Set files in the "NCAB_Int" folder.
NCAB_Int.exe
Nero_Installer.cmd
StartX.exe
vcBlackBox_Nero.txt
vcBlackBox_Nero.sfx
Nero-6.6.0.12.exe
NeroLanguagePack.exe(If you need)

4. Revise the Nero_Installer.cmd. (Over write your Serial on XXXX)
Nero Package 1 Setup : start /wait setupx.exe /SFX /SILENT=1 /SILENT /SN=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX /WRITE_SN /NO_UI /NOCANCEL /NOREBOOT


5. Click the NCAB_Int.exe

6. Follow the instractions which appear on the window. (Select optional install)

7. FINE !

If you get a Windows error message when you install 6.6.0.12. by old fashion way. please do as follows. Especially it may good information for double byte OS users, I think. It is a very slipshod way, but it works !


(1)Extract NERO 6.6.0.8
(2)Extract NERO 6.6.0.12
(3)Overwrite 6.6.0.12 on 6.6.08.
(4)Delete setup.exe and Setup.cfg
(5)Compress all files as we did.

i downloaded the ncab.rar from the first post..followed all the instructions to the word..but all i get in the end is a 65kb nero_custom.exe...which doesnt work...wat to do?
from wat i get from ur instructions is:
1. unrar ncab.rar
2. put it in the same folder as nero6.6.0.12.exe
3. run ncab.exe
4. on screen instructions to choose components..
5. but then i get this 65kb file which is not right..
really wanna have this app silently..plz help!

I've used Felix's Nero Custom Install Builder and built an installer with only Nero Burning Rom and Nero ToolKit from the Nero Ultra Edition 6.6.0.6 installer. Build worked fine, install fine. BUT, now, when I burn, I get "Unknown BurnPhase" in the progress window, when it should say "writing to disc". I used to have Nero Ultra Ed installed fully but didn't want all the extra crap, hence using Felix' custom builder. Why am I getting this message now? Please help! Other info: Win2K Pro, Lite-on external CD-RW drive...

Sorry, all is better. I've just used NCAB instead of Felix' and I don't get the Unknown BurnPhase in Nero. I have Win2K, and it worked fine. I have Nero Ultra 6.6.0.6 and it was no problem; as I hoped, NCAB is backwardly compatible. The only thing was that I had to change "setupx.exe" in the .cmd file to "setup". Only one minor complaint: when running the custom installer, there's no "progress" window whatsoever, or any window to indicate that it's running. Is this normal? No biggie, as it's easy enough to check if it's installed, but, you know, for the dummies out there...

Glad you figured it out and it's working for you. Just want to add some further explanation. If you have reg.exe, it will work on Win2k, otherwise it will install okay but will not import any plugin sn, tweaks, or cleanup the registry. Inaddition, there maybe minor application issues (example: nero toolkit lacking png, jpg screen capture saves) unless you already have gdiplus.dll in your system. That's nothing major, but XP users have this DLL already.

To see some progress window on the screen, remove the /SILENT=1 and /NO_UI switches.

I thought I'd let you know: I downloaded the NCAB.rar from Rapidshare. When I Extracted it, my Antivirus (Kaspersky) alerted me with the following message:

D:\My Downloads\Nero\NCAB.exe Infected Constructor.Win32.Delf.g

Maybe you can take a look at this.

i downloaded too and my antivirus symantec corporate 10 did not say anything.
also NCAB works perfect with nero 6.6.0.13.

It's very probable that the .exe file has some fingerprints the virus also has, making Kaspersky alert the user that it has found something although the file is absolutely harmless.
I just thought I let you know. Safety first!

Thanks for telling me. I want to assure everyone, there's no virus. I packed my exe in UPX and some anti-virus software are not sophisticated enough to make the distinction.

I've now uploaded a new version for 6.6.0.13 and I'm no longer using UPX compression on NCAB.exe so no more false-positives.

Whatsnew:

• Removed German and Japanese help files.
• Added a couple more Autoplay references that I missed.
• Rearranged script internally to further maximize space savings.
This only affects those who keep several Nero applications.

Seem to be havin an issue with the latest 7zip ver20, & your prog complains its not present on the system & asks to install the latest beta?
It works fine while 7zip ver 4.19 beta installed but refuses to work with 4.20?

I can attest to this bug as well. NCAB doesn't detect 7zip 4.20.

I'm reverting to 4.19 right now...
