I haven't tried installing Illustrator yet. What problems are you experiencing when you install it silently?

Would anyone care to do a simple guide for this PhotoshopCS2 app to assist those of us without expert or professional knowledge to install it? Something that's been tested preferably. As I have tried all the suggested methods, apart from the autoit script by Blinkdt as thats for a CD install running from an autorun.inf POST install and nothing to do with installing from RunOnceEx.cmd or batch_file.cmd as most people use as part of their Unattended CD - and as I cant use Autoit, therefore cant adapt it.
What we need is a guide to install CS2 silently (or quietly), get rid of the activation nag screen, and register it all done during RunOnceEx (or Batch_file.cmd).
At the moment we've got 1]editing abcopy.inf, 2]using modified msi, 3]using mst files, 4]autoIT scripts, 5]keygenerators, 6]copying .dat files and godknows what else. People are also posting in this thread about Illustrator, too!

I would love to do a guide if I can get the darn thing working!
Btw, the postings about Illustrator are ok since both programs use the same method for activation, store their .dat files in the same location, and make very similar registry changes. So from what I can tell, a guide for one is a guide for both, if anyone ever creates one.

My trimmed-down PhotoshopCS2 directory is a whopping 271MB. Even RAR'ed, it's still hefty
Nowadays we're all using 7zip on Ultra setting. I've taken the source of CD1 of Office 2003 Pro from 630mb down to 89mb and the ONLY thing left out is Outlook (as I dont use it). Even got all the "OfficeTools" on it. So unlike most things in life, size isn't really an issue!
QUOTE
quelching the activation is easy enough using a compiled AutoIt script or the modified .msi
Agreed, I can install it, no problems, but I get the activaton screen on first run.
With the CS V8 I could dummy install it, activate it and retrieve 2 files from the installdir and 3 from the installdir\activation dir. Then I could use my U/A CD to install it and then just silently copy/overwrite these 5 files over to the correct dir's at next entry on RunOnceEx.
Can't figure a similar way though with CS2? But there obviously must be a similar routine, its just that I'm not technically competent enough to work out what it is. This is why I use the forum - hopefully to get help from those more technically minded kind enough to help.
P.S. The URL for the official Adobe help page for silent install (mentioned earlier in this thread) - I have read it and it basically tells you how to silently install, but again, not silently activate!
Please someone - give us a Guide.

I can install it silently either by editing the abcopy.inf file or using the hacked msi supplied in earlier post or even using the mst way. BUT I still get the activation screen on first run.
We need someone <blinkdt, nologic???>

to adapt the autoit script for use during RunOnceEx, but I'm not good enough at autoit to do it!
Then someone can bring all the threads together in a guide.
We're
almost there!

Dunno if it's been posted yet ... but I used the custom MSI/MST (whichever flavor you prefer), and I got the activation window when I first started photoshop. To disable the popup window, I copied over the activation data (as the thread starter posted), and then added the following to the registry.
I tried it without adding this to the registry, and I still got the activation prompt on first load of photoshop.
CODE
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\ALM\B2B86000]
"ActivationType"=dword:00000002
"ActivationStatus"=dword:00000001
I didn't get an activation prompt when I started Photoshop.

Hiya guys, I have been reading the website for a couple of days now looking for help and advice. While chasing up some of the links I have seen posted I came across this.
Silent InstallNow the long and the short of it is and I thought this make a difference to some of the information I have seen posted here is the following.
QUOTE
When purchased through the volume licensing program, Adobe Creative Suite 2.0 allows silent installation on both Windows and Mac OS. When purchased as an individual product, Adobe Creative Suite 2 requires activation and therefore doesn't support silent installation.
I have read here somewhere that people don't think there will be a Corporate version release yet surely that is what "volume licensing" means, as in if they are able to install the Adobe Creative Suite CS2 without an activation they must be releasing a Corp version.
I just thought I would post this because I thought it might enlighten some

can someone release the msi without the need for copying photoshop.cer...the reason I ask is when doing an admin install, it complains about only that file...even though it exists...so im thinking about copying it over once adobe has installed...but I would like an msi without the need for that file so that it doesnt complain during the silent install. any help is greatly appreciated.
Nevermind, did it myself...saved 30mb (by using 7zip on the admin source and creating a sfx installer)...silent install goes without a hitch using admin install source...

HEY!!!!!
To everyone looking for a modified MSI for Photoshop and/or Illustrator. Installing with a modified MSI will invalidate your warantee.
Now, There is a much easier way to do what you are looking for. To get rid of the "Please register.." dialogs after the installs, just create teh folowing registry entries:
Photoshop CS2:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Adobe Photoshop CS2 - {236BB7C4-4419-42FD-0409-1E257A25E34D}]
"EPIC_REGS_COUNT"=dword:00000000
"EPIC_REGS_DATE"="2005-06-21 10:37"
"EPIC_REGS_LANG"=dword:00000000
"EPIC_REGS_STATE"=dword:00000002
"EPIC_REGS_TYPE"=dword:00000004
Illustrator CS2:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{B2F5D08C-7E79-4FCD-AAF4-57AD35FF0601}]
"EPIC_REGS_COUNT"=dword:00000000
"EPIC_REGS_DATE"="2005-06-21 10:37"
"EPIC_REGS_LANG"=dword:00000000
"EPIC_REGS_STATE"=dword:00000002
"EPIC_REGS_TYPE"=dword:00000004
This will prevent the registration dialog from appearing. If you have the software to do so, you can create a transform off the original MSI containing these entries.
for the serial number, just add it to the command line.
Photoshop:
%windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /i"Adobe Photoshop CS2.msi" ISX_SERIALNUM="1045-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX" /qb+
Illustrator:
%windir%\system32\msiexec /i "Adobe Illustrator CS2.msi" /qb+ SERIALNUMBER="1034-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX"
Photoshop requires the ISX_SERIALNUM property, and Illustrator requires the SERIALNUMBER property.
I will admit to having skimmed the last three pages of posts. If Anyone else has other issues, give me a ring bwbublitz @ Ra.rockwell.com

Based on information gathered haphazardly from all over the place in this lengthy thread it looks like all you need for a "full" (skipping Stock Photos, of course) installation of Photoshop CS 2 is a batch file with the following commands:
CODE
cmdow @ /HID
@echo off
copy B2B86000.dat "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Adobe Systems\Product licenses" /y
reg import activation.reg
start /wait "Adobe Photoshop CS2.msi" /qb UNITYSELECTION="RETAIL" SERIALNUMBERTEMP="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"
start /wait "bridge\Adobe Bridge 1.0.msi" /qb
start /wait "commonfilesinstaller\Adobe Common File Installer.msi" /qb
start /wait "help center\Adobe Help Center 1.0.msi" /qb
exit
A dat file containing your activation data in the same folder as your command script
And a reg file containing the following:
CODE
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\ALM\B2B86000]
"ActivationReminder"=dword:42dc7ac0
"ActivationType"=dword:00000002
"ActivationStatus"=dword:00000001
Is this pretty much a summary of whatever the devil y'all have came up with after twelve pages of reading?

[EDIT]
Okay, I changed things a bit with the command script... Now it's:
CODE
cmdow @ /HID
@echo off
msiexec /i "Adobe Photoshop CS2.msi" /qb UNITYSELECTION="RETAIL" SERIALNUMBERTEMP="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"
msiexec /i "bridge\Adobe Bridge 1.0.msi" /qb
msiexec /i "commonfilesinstaller\Adobe Common File Installer.msi" /qb
msiexec /i "help center\Adobe Help Center 1.0.msi" /qb
exit
Copying the activation file over and running the reg import bit didn't seem to do shinola

so I happily exorcised it... Plus I had to change a few bits, use msiexec...
Everything should run smoothly, just remember to use the modified MSI so Activation doesn't open after the installation end. Then when you first load Photoshop you'll just have to click thru registration and activation... I didn't want to remove registration because I like registering my products. Unless you're doing something illegal and have something to hide (remember... if a million people say "Adobe can afford my using pirating copies..." Adobe won't make any money, ick, then we don't get CS3) you should be fine with that.

Hi,
I have tried this method the only problem is you need to open CS2 1 time to make a folder Adobe System and Product License ,am I right cuase Im trying it a several hours but it doesnt make a folder in your apllication folder after you installed only after you execute CS2 1 time,and yes Im using the modded msi
My question what is the command to make a folder in cmd (like "make folder Adobe System.xxx) I do not know a extension for a folder.If we could make it this problem is solved..
Just try deinstalling CS2 and also deinstall the activation (so skip transfer) and look what the program does after installation look if there is a folder whit Adobe system and Product License.

My point is to make a folder inside %systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data to paste the folder AdobeSystems\product lisences\B2B86000.dat before I execute CS2 the first time.
If we can do this we can close this topic
and I used command MKDIR but this is making folders inside the point were you directed to and makes a folder "Documents" "and" "Settings" etc etc.
can I not copy/paste a folder like "Adobe Systems\Product lisences\B2B86000.dat ,thus this folder with the folder and .dat inside it copying to the directory?
Then we are ready.

sorry if i'm missing this, & my unattended install is fine, but how easy is it to remove the updater prompt/welcome screen when you first start CS 2? Thanks

using autoit for activation is impossible!
Adobe knows about Autoit
when the corp edition comes out no need to activate.
This is not true, I have written an AutoIt script myself which Unattendedly
installs AND activates Adobe Photoshop CS2. It's not that hard, you just need to read the AutoIt manual.
Not only that, but it will aslo work on any pc!

Yeah, check page 10 of this thread, been there and done that. Does your AutoIt routine rely on a generator and/or care to share your script?
Of course it doesn't rely on a generator, you don't know the rules of the forum?? Mine can only be used providing you have activated legally on that machine first. Then I simply transfer the activation details by using the ControlSetText command.
I won't post my script yet, discovered it is still buggy. For some reason it will hang on the last screen of setup where you are asked whether or not to view readme - during a windows test it works fine, during setup test it hangs.

I've been working on a script with AutoHotKey, kinda like autoscript, just easier to work with imo...
Here everything also works perfect, but I can't get it to wait for the last screen to click, it just clicks too early so it doesn't close, if I find the solution, I'll prolly post my script... Grtz

As I said in the previous post, I was working on this AutoIt script for the newest adobe (Adobe Photoshop CS2 9.0) and I'm finally finished...
It auto installs, registers and activates Photoshop, in other words : fully unattended...
I took the liberty to inspire myself on previous creations.
You can use AutoIt v3.0 to compile it, any remarks are welcome, grtz...

you might want to edit out your s/n in the download...just a suggestion...Also, you may want to edit your post to remove any hint of a keygen. AFAICT its ok to use in your autoit script, but prolly looked down upon talking about it in an open forum

@scuzzy47: Very, very nice. A clean script using the full installer.

Is it possible to adapt the script for the whole Adobe CS2 Suite?

i wrote up a full autoscript code that will install and activate during install, with the use of a keygen to activate it but not to get a key..
there are several steps that need to be done, one is to open abcpy.ini and put in your key and user name. And use a batch file to start the msi silently
i am not sure if i can post it, if i am allowed i will post it, if not i will kindly delete this post

Just post it. It's not like you're telling us where to get the keygen, or even which keygen it is that you're using (but I'm sure the more saavy people can guess). It's not warez to post a script that does nothing illegal. It's kinda like how NFOrce and iSONEWS can have .nfo files, but no serials in the NFO.

The AutoIt bottom line: if you can do it with a keyboard and/or mouse, you can do it with AutoIt. And a whole lot more.

Updated forum script for PS CS 2....don't know if it works...and don't frankly care...just did some clean up, to where it should be easier to fix any error's that maybe in it.
