hmm... I can download about 5 or 10 files at a time here, worked in IE4/5/6
But I always use a download manager for downloading files now.

When I d/l using Download Accelerator it will d/l 2 at a time...if I start more, the others start as soon as the two are done. I haven't checked to see if there is a setting to let more than 2 d/l though.

Yes, Chris is right...it was when I was downloading from the same site that I could only d/l two at a time...which is probably what you were doing.

Yes... you right... but I think if you tweak IE you will be able to d/l more then 2 files from the same site...

You may be able to but I know that the servers that you d/l from limit the amount of d/l's from the same IP. If you find the tweak...let me know.

I dont believe that you can tweak IE for that. This is the server your downloading from not IE. But Ive been wrong before....just dont think this time I am.:spaced

Read the tweak below elsewhere but haven't tested them myself.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesVxDMSTCP

Double-click on the newly created MaxConnections and enter the value "500" (without quotes)

You all guys right, it's the IP from where you download. You can't download more then two files at the same time from the same IP.

It is an http 1.1 setting. You need to edit a key in the registry. I cannot remember which one right now. But if you download a program called X-Setup. It has an option to do it for you.

just to reinforce what Panda said about the tweak, well it was mentioned @ the ms website
Here is the link:

Lazy? well here is the bottom line:
[i:90fd4f44d4]To comply with current Requests for Comments (RFC), Internet Explorer limits the number of simultaneous downloads to two downloads, plus one queued download. This configuration is a function of the browser. However, as connection speeds increase, and the number of total connections that are allowed to Internet servers increase, the two-connection limit may be restrictive. To increase the number of simultaneous connections that are allowed to 10, follow these steps: [/i:90fd4f44d4]
01. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
02. Locate the following key in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings
03. On the Edit menu, click Add Value , and then add the following registry values:
"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=Dword:0000000a
"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=Dword:0000000a
04. Quit Registry Editor.

Because IE is so deeply embedded into XP, be extremely careful when tweaking. There is no straight-forward way of reinstalling IE6 from XP and it might be easier to do a clean install if it's messed bad enuf. The KB has a number of articles on this subject.

That tweak is also an option in Tweak-XP. The maximum number of connections is set to 5, supposedly more will fail.

Dude, holy hell! This is the oldest topic on the BOARD! Why the heck did you bump this?!
It's part of nLite now anyway... no need to even know about tweaks when you have nLite. You
are installing all your Windows with nLite, aren't you?
