I'm working on a friends 98SE installation, and I've managed to clean up all the freaking problems except for this one. Mprexe caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff7a4b2.
Nothing I try can get rid of this. I've attempted all the suggestions from a google search such as taking everything out of startup via msconfig, and re-installing IE, but this problem persists. Suggestions besides reformat are very welcomed!
If u have already tried the solutions suggested by MS:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=178084http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=234647I would like to suggest to install the newer file from Windows ME setup CD [if u have it]:
EXTRACT/Y D:\WIN9X\WIN_17.CAB /L C:\TEMP MPREXE.EXE
where D must be replaced if your CD/DVD drive letter is different.
This file has to be replaced from native MS-DOS mode [Shift + F5 from Startup Menu]:
http://www.mdgx.com/msdos.htm#MENMPREXE.EXE goes in %windir%\SYSTEM .
Hope this helps.
