Hi people, sorry about the URGENT bit, but it quite is urgent, lol yes.gif

Where abouts is the Print Preview Icon that is shown in Internet Explorer, the reason for this is because I am working on a Public Kiosk with a locked down Internet Explorer.

But because the Print icon only prints the page, it doesn't show the print preview box, and I need to swap the print preview icon and change it to a print button.

I hope this hasn't been confusing, but if a possible answer could come soon, I would be much appreciated, thanks in advance ! welcome.gif

Right-click on the toolbars and select "Customize". You should be able to add the "Print Preview" button to the toolbar from there.

If you're wondering about a registry key or setting that controls this, I have no clue...

I'm actually talking about a certain file a .DLL or .OCX or .EXE file that contains the print preview icon, so i can replace that icon with the printer icon smile.gif

What in the world for? Why would you want to change the icon within the file?

OFFS..............lol

If you read above, my posting said that the print icon just prints and doesn't show the print preview dialog box... so for a public kiosk, i want patrons to view what is going to be printed and stuff like that before they print...

so therefore i want to change the print preview icon to a print icon... come on peoples... its not that hard to comprehend.... *breaks down*

If only Windows was that magic! The icon on the toolbar is actually a bitmap-strip but that's irrelevant. All that the icon or bitmap does is visually guide you to that part of the screen where you then click the mouse button. You could put a picture of the moon in place of the printer and it would still print the page so even if you did find the file and change the bitmap, your patrons would still print off pages without a preview.

To implement an actual print preview would require some sort of re-coding of IE which is way beyond me!

The best thing to do would be to right-click on the toolbar and remove the print button. That way the user will have to use File/Print and while they are there, you could educate them into moving one line down to the Print Preview.

Should anyone know how to change the function of the print button, or Ctrl+P for that matter, I would be very interested because I always do a print preview first.

i'm sorry, but i must be explaining it wrong...

internet explorer has a print preview button that you can place on the toolbar... ok peoples...

now... instead of the print preview looking icon which is a piece of paper with a magnifying glass... i want to have it as the printer looking icon...

all i wanted to know is, is there a file somewhere that contains this piece of paper with a magnifying glass... i want to change the icon, using reshack, to a printer icon...

does that make more sense wacko.gif

The icon in iexplore.exe doesn't look like the print preview icon. If you notice the magnifier tips to the left, while PP on toolbar tips to the right. I believe the one you are looking for is in system32/shell32.dll Icon group 134
