He probably thought that you didn't understand what warez meant (of course you know what monkey means, I assume you do anyway). Sure his methods probably weren't the most correct but everybody has their way of dealing with things/solving problems.

At least for a normal win98, the start button flag is actually an icon (with multiple sizes) located in user.exe.

Yes it was in user.exe, thanx guys.
Only way to edit this 16bit file is with eXeScope.
Does anybody know another way?

I've promised them a while ago. Maybe year ago so everyb forgot them.

Yes. RP Lite 5 is aimed to be fully localizable.
Altough, if you plan to translate it, you must have English/US ME distro, because ME files aren't provided any longer.

Tihiy, what about the 'touch of charm' from RP4? (don't throw stones at me, I used it for almost an year before my HDD crashed a couple of days ago

)

Talkin' about LameSkin engine. I really liked that and I'd like it back. Haven't seen it in the screenshots, though. 2K theme is ugly, IMHO.

RPLite 5 does not include Task Manager.

RPLite 5 does not include Task Manager.

RP/Lite Tools Task Manager 1.2
Simple process managing tool. Hooks CTRL-SHIFT-ESC like XP one.

- Fixed possible crash when no shell is loaded
- No longer possible to run applications when user is not logged on
- Minor changes
- Automated install/remove:
Installation:
Remove device=taskmgr.vxd from [386Enh] section of system.ini if present.
Copy taskmgr.exe into \windows\system.
Run: taskmgr.exe /install
Uninstallation:
Run: taskmgr.exe /remove
Remove taskmgr.exe from \windows\system.

RPLite 5 delayed because of critical bug.

Installed without problems, works fine, although a bit slow on my 200MHz machine (with a couple of other apps running).

One question out of curiosity, as I have a wonder: how does Unicode detection work?

The application in the screenshot below is supposed to be the ANSI version (there are separate ANSI/Unicode builds of it), yet it shows up as Unicode, in your Task Manager. I wonder why...

but CTRL-SHIFT-ESC doesn't work nor does the Ctrl-alt-del
i have the click taskmgr.exe
is there a way you can make it default when pressin Ctrl-alt-del

- Is Possible usening with keys CTRL+ALT+DEL? Which changed hex codes in TaskMgr.Vxd?
- May you add to GDI, User Resources and Free Memory(9xsp3res.dll like)?

"aTaskManager 1.0.638" (http://www.goldlimit.com/product/taskmgr10eng.exe). More features and XP like(2000/XP Task Manager). But, not stable. Example: There is free reported memory used programs but mistake. Therefore, we usening to MemLoad 2.0 (http://www.commontology.de/pub/adamant/memload20.zip). We hope to be RP Lite TaskManager II this features(If possible and very much easy).

So. TEST ONLY
Here is a RPLite 5 code complete.
But. You should not install this version unless on very test machine.
This version wasn't checked at all on normal system.
This version does contain everything promised, but some things are hidden in registry and there is no rpconfig tool in this release. I'll unleash information on registry values, if this **** will work for anyone.

Very hard work Tihiy but very good.

I have a few bugs:
The first one is during installation,you can see it

Installation on my 98se can't be finished and i must install unfinished files handly.
Dial-up conection is the best part,totaly like on WinXP.
Icons and toolbars are extra.Thanks a lot!

And the second bug is in logo.sys file
When install it from inf file i can't see loading animation during startup.
I don't know why.

i had a different error in the installer it said extraction had failed when it got to comdlg.dll

Ah. Patching setupx.dll is really a bug. I've forgotten it is different for every distro...
Fixed version should come soon.

Have you tried actually to went into 'Logo' folder, selecting 'install.inf', right-click and 'Install'?

RPLite 5 requires and warns it won't work properly without USP.
RPLite 5 does not require but should be installed after 98SE2ME.
RPLite 5 does not interfere with Kernel Update.
RPLite 5 requires IE6.
RPLite 5 has nothing to do with drivers.

There is no 'vista sound theme'.
It is not in current builds. Two discovered sounds and 'vista-like' sounds are available, but that's not worth it.

I must say i really like this place where people like you keep Win98 alive with such great projects.

Could you tell me what about translations (Polish in my case) for RP Lite 5, how it could be done?
If you need polish ver. of some files from Win98/ME i can send them to you, just tell me which files.

What's the difference ?

I'm also continueing my work on the Windows 98 custom installer project. Here's a WIP of component MDAC 2.8 as a seperate component selectable during setup.

There is still lot's of work to do. MDAC is just a small component, as compared to DirectX 9.0c and Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player etc.
The goal is a fully customizable Windows 98 Setup with updated components.

Indeed that is excellent news.

I hope I will get a new HDD by then, because trouble seems to be hanging over me: after the first testing HDD crashed, now this main one seems to be willing to crash too. I'll soon be unable to use any of the computers, not to mention about installing and testing any RPLite pack.

God knows I'm a good guy; why does this happen to me?!

(I just noticed there's no emoticon for *crying*)

Edit explorer.exe with resource hacker and replace 1003 field with this one.
You'll see that you must make a one banner for this dialog named RUNGFX.
