Here is one thingy to test:
rewrited rundll32.exe. It isn't much better than standard one, but it will allow nicke85 to Reshack shell32.dll with RPLite6.

It should be as functional as standard one.
Please test it if you can with programs which are using it (NVidia drivers, TweakUI and other stuff).

I will probably get shot for this BUT apart from the ms programmers who developed the os who must be feeling very proud of their creation with us hanging onto it, basically ms has left us out in the wild. Either they assume we are going to adopt Win2k which I presume will have a finite lifetime due to its age and the release of a part of its source code or the most patched windows os winxp (our reqiurements minimum sp1 pre drm). I would not imagine anybody would want to rush into vista with its alleged virgin net stack plus other issues doing the rounds. As soon as we have a level playing field I think this os can live for many many years to come, otherwise it may well backfire on microsoft and people disperse to other os`s

i noticed that you used the original folder icon instead of the xp of vista icon. Were there going to be more than 2 themes?

1) Yes, dimm.dll should not be copied. Definitely a bug.
2) Small bug too; should be cured by rebuilding icon cache.
3) There are 3 themes: Royale, Sqare, Vista.

that's why you're all getting classic icons.

With RPlite V I got this error when trying to use windows setup in add/remove programs. This was with the new rundll32.

RUNDLL32 caused a general protection fault

With RPlite 6 I get a similiar error:

When I installed RPlite 6 rundll32 would stop responding during the instal process and I would have to end the task manually.

The CAD dialog now works for me if I log off and back on. Actually with RPlite V the log off button from the start dialog usually did nothing but today for some reason it worked once and when it asked me to log back on the CAD dialog worked. This was without family logon installed. After logging on I checked the password applet and users have individual settings was selected. After changing that to users have same preferences I restarted and the CAD dialog was back to being geyed out and the log off button didn't work. When I highlighted the log off button the screen went white except for the dialog. Then of course I upgraded to RPlite 6. There is more to the story (it is sorta complex) if you are interested but no point in typing it if you don't care. It is interesting that the CAD dialog worked briefly.

Let's try to find root of your problems.
Well, shell32.dll is responsible for working with Control Panel, rebooting computer and other stuff.
But setupx.dll won't fail because of it or rundll32.exe.
It is 16-bit, it doesn't care.
What could have changed 16-bit libraries? 98SE2ME.
Now questions:
- Which language you're using?
- How long ago 98se2me has been installed?

installed rplite 6 and now lame skin doesnt work

I installed it after installing RPlite V with no problems a few days ago. After I installed option 3 (so I could get movie maker) I reinstalled RPlite V. During that installation rundll32 would stop responding same as with RPlite 6. So it seems 98se2me is the culprit?

Oh and lameskin was not enabled by default in RPconfig for me.

Probably they won't.
If you're sure that you suffer only from rundll32.exe, you can revert it to original version.
If not... then wait till i'll try to reproduce the issue.

RPLite6 has been silently updated
to address some Windows ME setup issues.
Long and unpleasant story with my ME expirience, but result is that setup.exe was renamed to setupRP.exe.
You do not need to install this version.
Download it only if you plan fresh installing or installing RPLite6 on Windows ME.

The only line of code was added to LameSkin code to prevent it from making 'skinner app' any application except mprexe.exe. This is how LameSkin works now.
If you're sure that LameSkin works okay now then leave it as it is.
But i think you must have troubles with skin switching on-the-fly?

I'm testing RPlite 6 and it looks good.

No problems until now except this one:

If I try to choose one of your lameskins (which look great by the way, especially the royale one) on my french Windows, letters with accents appear as cyrillic characters.
I remember seeing the same problem with your taskmanager some time ago. Lameskin.dll coded in russian? Any fix idea?

Oh, and would it be possible to let people reshack user.exe just like shell32.dll ?

I found a way icons but it is not a permanent. If I right click when I am in a folder and go to " VIEW" and then select something I can see everything, however if I navigate out of that directory I am back to the blank folder and not to right click and go to view again. I also found another problem. When I delete things they no longer go into the trash can.

That's really looks like like a bad install.
Because your machine didn't have some file or something prevented RPLite to register files correctly.
Not sure what you should do.

Ok. I had seen the "tweak fonts" in the readme but I figured there was some other problem as when I change the fonts and then apply, I loose the skinning...
