Is this normal?

"Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions.... etc."

I get this at every reboot, and am instructed to insert the Windows 2000 CD so that the files can be repaired.

Is there any way to get rid of it?

I never got this message. Sounds like it is looking for a signature. I forget now which file is patched. I will check into it and get back to you.

You need to switch off "Windows File Protection"

@donutbandit - No, this is definately NOT normal. Which file is it complaining about? USP 5.0 / 5.0 SR1 breaks no security catalogs, nor does it leave ANY patched binaries on your system.

This may or may not be relevant, however...
I have had this problem with a few XP systems, that had service packs integrated into the install Cd.
Inserting the CD used to install from stopped the message from coming back.
Since the same files would (??) be used - I have no clue WHY it worked. Proof in the pudding.

gurgle is right - make a list of the files that get naged and tel us what USP version (5.0) (5.0sr1) or (5.1basic)

and also let us know if maby you jused something like Nlite or so...
or other tweaks ...

That problem hasn't occured so far for me with Windows 2000 Pro SP4. With Windows XP Pro SP2, that's a different story, I was getting that pop up everytime I was installing 3rd party drivers. Under Windows XP SP2, just click "Cancel" when that message pops up. Then it's probably fine.
