For a while now, I've been including msxml6.dll and msxml6r.dll in HFEXPERT\CODECS but how do I verify whether that properly installs MSXML6? Is there an online test page?

Search the registry for msxml6 for any hits.

The registry is infested with it. tongue.gif

The only difference from MSXML4 I could see is that the subkeys "HELP" aren't pointing anywhere (the ones for MSXML4 point to the system32 directory).

An unrelated question...
If I use the HFEXPERT\CODECS method for MSXML4 and replace msxml4.dll (4.20.9818.0) with the version from the KB887606 hotfix (4.20.9828.0), do I still need the two CAT files that come with the hotfix or would that only be necessary in the event Microsoft ever add MSXML4 onto the Windows Update site?
tommyp
Cat files? You can probably live without them. I doubt that the update site checks for them.

K... Thanks.

By the way... I'm probably nitpicking but msxml4a.dll is for Win9x; it doesn't need to be copied into SOURCESS.

Thanks for the tip. I'm far from a computer genious, I'm only trying to automate things. So any tips are appreciated.

I didn't know this either until yesterday. I accidentally found this page:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;EN-US;269238
Check the note below the first table.

Don't take that note too literally, though. It says that WinHTTP5.dll is used for NT-based operating systems instead, but the page is old and Windows HTTP Services 5.0 has been discontinued per this page:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/?url=/li..._start_page.asp
(So stick with msxmlcab.exe smile.gif)
