Hi Shark007,
it's gotten even worse: During install "FlashUtil9b.exe not found"
I think you have mixed up with a DOS8.3 name.
If you provide Information about your Install procedure, I may check it for W2k compatibility. It worked with your Flash 8.x installer.
W2k,XP,.. should work with the same installer if you go not too deep into system peculiarities.
(The original Macromedia msi installer w. silent switch works well with all OS)
Is annoying Autoupdate enabled or disabled?

Hi Shark007, it's gotten even worse: During install "FlashUtil9b.exe not found"

I never thought of it before, but yeah, you can easily follow the proceedure I used to create your own Win2k compatible installer.

Download my Flash Installer and use WinRAR to extract the files.
You will need these 3 files for the installer: Flash9b.ocx - FlashUtil9b.exe - swflash.inf
Place the 2 W95INF files into your system32 directory.

I'm going to assume your version of this builtin software is similar to mine.

Go to the run... box on the start menu and type; Iexpress

click next
click next
Package title: Flash
click next
click next
click next
Add: browse to and select the 3 files, choose open
click next
Install Program: click the down pointing tringle and select swflash.inf
Post Install Command: <None>
click next
Select [x]Hidden
click next
click next
Package Name and Options: This is going to be the name of your newly created installer, Browse to a save location, and give it a name
select [x] Hide Extracting Progress Animation from User
click next
select [x] No restart
click next
select [x] Don't save
click next
click next

And your done, test it, if it works, please share a link to the file.
I'll add meta data with a flashtype icon and post it on my repository.

Hi,
I did some more testing and went crazy.
As far as I can see,you have used the original swflash.cab content.
with XP it works all the time,
with W2k it seems to fail also registering immediate browser integration.
(swflash.cab does it either but msi installer does it)
One solution works also within Iexpress:
using: "rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection swflash.inf, DefaultInstall" always works fine.
I will stop investigating because its a minor problem to me.
amitri
Hey, iexpress is cool. You actually need 3 XP files : iexpress.exe, makecab.exe and wextract.exe.
Copying them to any folder and using any resource editor on wextract.exe you can, for example, edit your silent installer text and icon.

If you want to disable Autoupdate:

disableautoupdate.cmd:
copy mms.cfg %windir%\system32\mms.cfg

mms.cfg:
AutoUpdateDisable=1

Just an FYI, the Opera Flash and Shockwave Plugins do not seem to be Vista compatible. The regular installers work fine, I have no idea why the switchless ones do not. Thanks a lot! biggrin.gif

I'm going to guess you are using Vista x64. At the time I created these installers the x64 file structure was unknown to me. If executing them on an x64 machine they will be installed to \Program Files\ but in reality the target softwares are located in \Program Files (x86)\

I'll create installers specifically for use on x64 machines when time permits.

I am using Vista X86. sad.gif Should it be working? I'll test it in a VM when I get a chance if it is supposed to be working fine.

I havent tested it. i don't use opera myself. My next thought is that UAC is blocking it. Try right clicking the installer and choosing Run as administrator.

No problem and thanks for the update. Out of curiosity, where did you get the .msi file in your installer and how new is it? (I've tried to get an msi from Adobe but the latest was 10.1.4.020 and after I accidentally deleted it they've now taken it down x.x Just get a 'file not found'..)

I created this MSI installation myself.
Its not Adobe's, they just own the content being installed.

Hello Shark007.

I went to your new File Repository and downloaded the Shockwave Opera Plugin. But it still tests as 10.2.020 instead of 10.2.022. I'm running XP. Can you check the link on your page and confirm that it points to 10.2.0.022. Thanks for your fine work. Glad you could find another place to host your page.

I checked the installers on both of my repositories, they contain the 22 version.

Sometimes hovering over a file will pickup old info from a previous file.
Rightclick the file and choose properties to read the actual version.

For quite some time now I have been trying to track down what was creating an empty 'My Company' folder in Program Files.

'cyberloner' recently informed me that the shockwave installer I distribute was creating this folder.
An update was released today correcting this issue.

lol that older was driving me nuts from quite sometime, thanks for the update and the feedback on that folder.

Hi,

with custom installer for latest Shockwave 10.2.0.23 and corresponding Firefox plugin, I wasn't able to play at www.isketch.net using Firefox : Shockwave game window wasn't loading.

- it is always perfectly working with IE 7.
- it was not working using Firefox 2.0.0.5 then 2.0.0.6
- tested with several uninstall/cleaning/reinstall...
- no problem before, with Shockwave 10.2.0.22

just found how to resolve the problem... no, please look at bottom of this post

file ShockwavePlugin.class (I took it from Adobe official installer) needs to be in Firefox\plugins folder, alongside with np32dsw.dll file.

download link for this file

EDIT : no, even with that ShockwavePlugin.class file, it doesn't work... sorry for the confusion. the problem seems to be in the custom shockwave installer...

EDIT 2 : here it is, the only way I found to get Firefox working...

1) no shockwave installed (but some testing made on the system before, so probably leftovers). I install with official installer, then I uninstall it! I choose "custom" uninstall mode. this uninstaller is especially powerful, and it probably remove some leftovers by custom installer (see bottom)

2) I install with official installer (yeah, again) and now it's working!

one last thing : if I install with custom installer, then uninstall it, then install with official installer, it still doesn't work... conclusion, custom installer might break shockwave installation, about its using in Firefox

regards!
BigRandalo
just installed swInstaller.exe from sharks repository (latest version) with the firefoxshockwaveplugin.exe on a new clean windows installation with firefox 2.0.0.6 running and i really got no problems here :x

If you're using a custom installation path for Firefox my plugin installer will fail. It's hardcoded to install to the default path.

thank you Shark, but I've already manually copied np32dsw.dll to the right place

however, I've found this BugZilla thread, and it is exactly my problem

so, I applied this workaroud: I put firefox.exe in "Win2000 compatibility mode", and now Shockwave works on my Firefox... but that's not a very nice fix...

finally, this is a proven bug, related to Adobe and/or Microsoft

Shark....the Firefox Plugin for Shockwave never seems to download properly. You might want to reupload the file, as it always downloads corrupted or refuses to download.

1. Don't use a download manager. 2. Try the Mirror repository

v10.3.0.24 just got pushed out via Adobe's autoupdate system. Still not on their website as a separate download.

Nevermind, 10.3.0.24 will install from adobe.com, even though their download page states it's 10.2
