Are you interested in making a version of SW10 for Win2K? Else, just tell me what needs to be done so I can incorporate a Win2K-only version into the MultiCompiler utility.

Until a few moments ago, i didnt know macromedia released msi installers for these. The MSI's i used are created by me. I have no idea what a Win2K version would require. Can Win2K install an MSI? if so, possibly all i need to do is change from a /passive switch to /qb
I have no idea what a MultiCompiler utility is.

The updated file version 8.0.24 is Win2k compatible

Shark:

I was referring to the "Windows" folder inside your package. On Win2K, it's usually called "WINNT" except when upgrading from Win9x (or when changing it with an unattend).

MultiCompiler = this

Try the provided file. The 'windows' path isnt hardcoded in the MSI installer.

I cant recreate that error on my existing systems, or in vmware. I realize you use a dutch system. There is a high probability that this is a language issue. I'm removing the Multilingual disignation.

shark
muiz
Yes , i use a dutch xp
Let me know when its up , and i will test again for you.

SWITCHLESS whistling.gif
Shark007
QUOTE
perhaps it is possible with a switch? don't think so since it is switchless
yes, you can use the /qn switch on my installer
QUOTE
Hope you don't mind, it is still your installer!
ummmm, no, that's your installer. Mine works from svcpack, yours will fail uninstallation if used from svcpack. Although, if you note that it must be installed after 1st boot (runounceex), it will uninstall properly.
QUOTE
Ofcourse u can simply use the silent Shockwave installer Shark007 has given in the first post. Mine is exactly same but without progressbar.
ummmm, no, mine isnt silent, it's switchless, yours is yours, and it isnt the same as mine. It may contain the same files as mine, but it doesnt have the same functionality.

Many thanks for posting your work!

I'm curious about two things:

There is no confirmation windows saying that the files are installed (although they are). Was this by design?

The installers don't work in Windows 98. I get a error message "7-zip, unable to create install folder". What's going on here?

thanks shark007 - you know this will need updating for many years to come
Shark007
The shockwave installer was UPDATED August 15, 2006. - While using CrapCleaner i noticed missing registry entries causing it to want to delete several of the shockwave entries.

shark
Shark007
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE

I have removed the svcpack compatibility designation.
The installer has not changed but due to issues i've discovered, this installer must be used after 1st boot. My apologies to those affected.

Still can't find a working link to an installation of the shockwave player without Google, Yahoo, Autoupdate, etc. If there isn't a installer I will try to make an MSI by myself...

Please let me know.

GREAT GREAT GREAT thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Thanks shark!!!
SubSense
GREAT!!

But.. For our distribution I need the MSI. I cannot call the executable with a custom action within another MSI because the swInstaller.exe will extract to an MSI. I Believe that windows installer cannot handle 2 MSI's at the same time...

Do you also have the MSI or is there a way to "extract" the MSI from the swInstaller.exe?

Shockwave player updated to 10.1.4.20

This version has AutoUpdate enabled by default and i havent found a way to turn this off other than visiting this page at ADOBE. To turn it off, right click on the shockwave video and choose 'properties'.

I know there are several registry settings for autoupdate but they dont seem to affect the setting i suggested above.

shark
Sereby
the key you are searching for is here

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Shockwave 10\AutoUpdate

change the value default from "y" to "n"

I'm aware this key exists, but it doesn't turn off the situation i described earlier.

i used an registry tool which looks for chaned keys and this one was the only one which is changed when i turn of the autoupdate like you sayed! and i tested it by changing it back some times and its working for me

odd, it doesn't change the registry values here when i turn it off through the webpage as descibed earlier.

shark
Shark007
Sereby, you were correct. i was looking at the wrong key. I was looking in HKLM.

watch my repository for an (updated) file with this turned off by default.

This shockwave installer IS NOT svcpack compatible. Although it installs and functions fine, 5 active-x issues show up in crapcleaner from an svcpack install. When installing this through runonceex etc., these issues are nonexistent.

I just did and it don't so can you add support please.

I'm sorry, but this isnt going to happen.
I suggest you contact Adobe Technical Support.

The main reason it failed is that my installer is based on an MSI which i created.
Win98SE doesnt support MSI installers natively.

Are you aware M$ doesn't even support WindowsXP SP1 anymore?

Hi,
in the current FlashInstaller9028 release occurs the following error:

File "C:\WINNT\system32\Macromed\Flas" (or one of it's components) not found.
(tranlated from German)

This error comes only once after the first reboot before desktop loads.
After deinstalling/installing it comes once again.
Unfortunately I cannot look into your package to see what your Installer is doing.

I use W2k german.
