First Hello

I'm a noob when it comes to creating slipstream cds, so bare with me

I've just built a pc that included a SATA/RAID mobo (Gigabyte 8I915PL-G Intel Socket 775 ATX Motherboard) I was able to install xp home on the SATA WD HDD, but bios shows it as IDE 0 master

Another big problem is that I can't connect to the internet on the new system

My mobo came with a drivers cd that allowed my to install most of the drivers after an os install except for one in particular; ITE IT8212 ATA RAID Controller. This driver needs to be preinstalled by floppy. I purchased a usb floppy drive with the intensions of loading the Raid controller from it, but my pc sees my usb floppy drive as floppy B: and installation only likes floppy A:

Where and how do I create these directories?
Where does the Raid controller go?

The xpcreate guide doesn't mention ripping the xp cd; am I missing something

Please help. Had my new system for a week now and I've been unable to enjoy it

for an explanation of those directories look at the guide: Unattended CD/DVD Guide, on this very forum it'll give you a complete overview and tell you where those directories go.

as for what you need to do i think the answer is nothing, because your not customizing the CD with extra software you just want to slip the Raid drivers into your CD right? if yes then try reading this link

After reading Greenmachine XPCreate SATA/RAID section i gather that your RAID is supported by XPCreate so what you need to do is as follows:

You need to Copy your XP CD to the XPCreate folder ( call it MYXP ) ie create a dir called MYXP, just copy everything from the CD to the MYXP directory.

Create This Directory Structure in the XPCreate Directory
FilesCD
FilesCD\$OEM$
FilesCD\$OEM$\$1
FilesCD\$OEM$\$1\DRIVERS
FilesCD\$OEM$\$1\DRIVERS\RAID


Edit XPCreate.ini : XPSOURCE=MYXP
Edit XPCreate.ini : USERFILESCD=FilesCD

Copy your RAID drivers from the floppy to the FilesCD\$OEM$\$1\DRIVERS\RAID directory, edit the WINNT.SIF in the MYXP\i386 dir and add this to the [Unattended] section : OEMPnPDriversPath="Drivers\RAID"

This should get you going in the right direction i would write more but i gotta run, i'll check back later.

I just executed "XPCREATE.CMD" and it made an image of the CD onto my computer as well as copying the files over.

Using this, I thought it would automatically have the drivers etc on them, as under the list "VIA Serial ATA RAID Controller" is supported.

It still wouldn't detect my Raptor hard drive (Windows Installation) so I'm kinda stumped too.

I created all those directories etc, but what files do I change for SATA not RAID? With the instructions on Green Machine, it is specific for si something or rather, not MY drivers? So I'm not sure if I just simply copy and paste something? Or buring the ISO which the program created was meant to work?

All I want to do is install Windows on my Western Digital SATA Raptor.

Motherboard is KT8 Pro Socket 754.

I followed this instructions:

In order to keep up with the ever-changing Mass Storage Device (MSD) hardware discoveries and driver updates, XPCREATE can optionally slipstream certain MSD drivers. In order to integrate your RAID/SATA drivers into the distribution, you must:

1. Place your drivers somewhere in the FILESCD\$OEM$\$1\DRIVERS directory tree.
2. Add the appropriate data to the OEMPnPDriversPath setting in WINNT.SIF.

I placed the drivers in the created directory but don't know about step two? I can't find winnt.sif even after using the search?

Now my understanding is after I've followed these two instructions, I run the program again, it creates the ISO and slips the drivers into the CD and bang I'm ready?

If you make sure that in your .ini, you have this there, xpcreate puts the relevent stuff into the winnt.sif file during the slipstream process I believe - at least it seemed to with me.

This may also mean that you need to have a winnt.sif file created for this to work bear in mind.

Some BIOS' do display SATA drives like this - it doesnt mean its a IDE drive [obvious really if you have physically plugged it into a SATA port hehe - its just the way they display it]

What I did with the same model of motherboard [only the other day] which worked lovely - tho it wasnt the premium - is use Bâshrat the Sneaky's 'base' and 'SATA/SCSI' driverpacks.
