I guess its only good for IE

I know that... other filters will give you different property pages.
Another thing to try - a tiny Media Player built into Windows itself -
Start -> Run, run
RUNDLL c:\windows\system\amovie.ocx,RunDll
You'll get a file->open dialog, pick a media file, and start playing. For easier use, create a shortcut with that command line.
I can play 5 AVIs at a time with these, and CPU usage still stays below 50%. One WMP already takes more than that!

Try also this freeware DirectShow ActiveX control [real time audio compression/settings tweaker] which works with all WMP editions, compatible with all 9x + NTx OSes:
http://www.tfm.ro/audiofilter/Requires WMP 6.4 or newer.
Requires DirectX 7 or newer.

Glad you like it.

Another graphic EQ called "Analyzer '99" [freeware] is available at 1 of these URLs [Slydiman's web site in English]:
http://slydiman.narod.ru/eng/http://slydiman.compass.com.ru/eng/http://slydiman.da.ru/eng/http://slydiman.homeip.net/eng/These are located in Russia, so if you are in North, South America or Australia, might take a while for those web pages to load.
You are looking for "Sound System '99":

In past years when Media Player x.x has gotten hosed and defied all attempts at a repair,
I've installed WinAmp and solved the problem.
WinAmp comes in three strengths. Each one requires more system resources to run than the lesser one.
WinAmp Lite should run on just about any 'puter running 98 or better.
I know it can be downloaded from sites on the internet.
Good Luck,
Andromeda

Please keep in mind that WinAmp, same as all other similar media players use DirectShow + NetShow APIs [DLLs + OCX Controls] which are installed partly by DirectX 7/8/9 and partly by WMP 6/7/8/9/10.
Therefore, if one wants to use a 3rd party player, DX + WMP must be already installed.
Hope this helps.
