Tomcat76
I can't confirm this. Are you using any unsupported hotfixes?
Kiki Burgh
QUOTE (Tomcat76 @ Mar 13 2006, 04:26 AM) *
(2) If a not explictly supported Type 2 hotfix is treated as a Type 1 hotfix by HFSLIP, you can now use HFANSWER.INI to correct that. The variable is UsrExcHF1 and should be used like so:
UsrExcHF1=aolsup rootsup Webfldrs
Note that the example above shows filename strings that are already covered by HFSLIP; it's only meant as an example.
Tip: try to find strings that don't accidentally cover other hotfixes or updates.
hi TC! i just like to ask for a little clarification about this: Type 1 are those files that should be installed using the /Q /O /N /Z switch while Type 2 are those files that should be installed using the /Q:A /R:N switch, right? for naming convention that will be used in HFANSWE.INI how exactly should this be? thanks!

i like to share too that with the latest build i created earlier using 61016a, i got stuck again at T-39 (tried it 2x with the same result) ... removing the .CAT files resolved the issue ... i wonder would this have anything to do with the number of hotfixes in HF folder (considering i did not encounter this issue for quite sometime now & that i even have modified SFC_OS in FIX)?

also i encountered being stuck in the installation portion of RC ... cancelling it continues all T-13 installations ... i believe this has something to do with ASMS compression (as we have discussed in an old thread about Recovery Console) smile.gif

lastly, i don't know if you guys have noticed but i can't seem to download the entire thread & has been limited to 823kb only (have done downloads for the past couple of days & always the same) ... it's only until this post where it gets cut: sad.gif
QUOTE (Tomcat76 @ Oct 11 2006, 08:12 AM) *
You are right about the resource file. It's the same version as the one in the 2K rollup. I guess the newer date confused me.

I'm now doing a thorough check of all files and will update my lists accordingly...

QUOTE (Tomcat76 @ Oct 17 2006, 05:22 AM) *
Not all test releases smile.gif

Those updates are obsolete. Please use IE6.0sp1-KB925486-Windows2000-x86-ITA.exe and WindowsXP-Windows2000-Script56-KB917344-x86-ita.exe.

Many thanks!

Ciao!

Hi
I use only hofixes from yours or the guys list. To find the mistake i have now taken hfslip61015b (i had on hdd)
inserted the directX Part from 61017a and........it works for both os. Only KB923191 (W2KSP4) shows a message "File or Folder called Temp already exists", but comctl.dll is copied.
Installation on a vm..ok. Tomorrow i´ll test the installation on a real machine.
Atfter that i will look for the differens between the two versions.
Tomcat76
OK, Wela... Can you please do this:

Run 61017a. While the hotfixes are being processed, you should see HF.TXT, HF1.TXT, HF2.TXT and HF2T.TXT in the main HFSLIP folder. Copy them to another location before they are deleted. Then ZIP them up and post it here.

Thanks...

Tomcat76
Maybe a bit off topic. I can't run HFSLIP right now (I'm far from my computer now).
Just wonder if it supports KB888111.EXE integration?
And in which manner: slipping files into sourse or running through SVCPACK.INF?
Kiki Burgh
hi Oleg! yes it is supported smile.gif
QUOTE (Tomcat76 @ Apr 27 2006, 06:23 PM) *
@Kiki: 60427b supports KB888111... smile.gif

QUOTE (Tomcat76 @ May 4 2006, 12:04 AM) *
When you install KB888111 by hand, Windows assumes that you need it. I'll search around to see if it's really better to have Windows force-install it from SVCPACK.

Thanx! Just like to know if the hotfix is extracted and integrated as separate files or ran as an EXE file rolleyes.gif

@Kiki Burgh:

Regarding your question about Type 1 and Type 2 hotfixes, Type 1 fixes require the /quiet /norestart switch (or equivalent). I believe Type 2 is something like /Q:A /R:N.
Tomcat76
@Wela:
Nevermind. Try 61017b.

@Kiki:
What Super Magician said. But that switch had nothing to do with SVCPACK installs; it was for the internal HFSLIP hotfix filter that distinguishes between Type 1 and Type 2 hotfixes; they need to be handled in different ways. Either way, it doesn't matter because it's removed again with 61017b.

@Oleg II:
To be precise, KB888111 is slipstreamed but with the current final (60810) it needs the word "Windows" in its name for it to be detected properly.
Kiki Burgh
thanks S-M! i'd like to know what convention to use for the variable: UsrExcHF1 in HFANSWER.INI ... strings to use smile.gif
Oleg if I am not mistaken it is integrated ... unless TC has changed it smile.gif

EDIT: oops my reply came probably a split-second after TC posted his ... he! he!
Tomcat76
We need a new "final" ASAP. There are hotfixes that aren't supported by the current one.

How are things with Wela, Kiki and Camarade Tux?

Everything OK with HFCLEANUP?

The deadline I'd like to propose is Thursday.
Camarade_Tux
I can't do proper tests before friday evening (because I probably need to check that my SOURCE folder has no problem itself).

edit: I created an ISO from my SOURCE folder and it installed properly.
I'll now make a new pass with hfslip, without DX (who knows) and I'll try to install it this evening.

edit2: failing again. I'll come with a clear answer on friday (moreover, I forgot to remove HFCABS as I planned).

am typing this message on freshly installed XPSP2 hfslipped with 61017b and everything seems okay... smile.gif
wela
Hi
61017b is not the answer for my problems. Theres something in the script mixing up my hotfixes all downloaded yesterday. For Example (W2kSP4 German): processing kb901017" A folder named Temp already exists. System can not find the specified file" or kb 901017 "Theres a folder named Temp. Subfolder is not empty. File can not found" or kb 909520 " The Specified File cannot accessed". blink.gif
With XPSP2 Same messages. ohmy.gif
Using my modified hfslip, i build yesterday, no problems. So, what is the differens between these Versions??? I only changed the directx 9 Part. huh.gif

The first differens is the size of the scripts, my modified has 149,089 Bytes and 61017b has 149,442 Bytes! whistling.gif
Tomcat76
Wela... I just tried 61017b with XPSP2 German and complete hotfix/update list. I didn't have any problems.

First try disabling your anti-virus software and any script blockers you may have running. If that doesn't help, please give me those HF*.TXT files which exist in the HFSLIP folder while the hotfixes are processed in a ZIP file.

FYI... If you get a "TEMP folder already exists" error that means the "error" is with the previous hotfix.
Camarade_Tux
I just tried with an empty HFCABS and without removing cat files : it still restarts. mad.gif

I attached my log.
wela
Hi TC
I will follow your instructions. Can you wait? At weekend i have enough time, cause my children go to their father.
Tomcat76
@Wela... We'll see. I'll make a VM install of XPSP2 German and will decide after that.

Everything OK with XPSP2 French. HFSLIP run, VM installation, WMP10 and Microsoft Update. I included all updates on my "beta" list minus KB896344-v2 (for English and Japanese distros only) and the Genuine Advantage Notifications update (indeed no longer required), and added KB892211 (Web Folders update), KB914440-v10 (Network Diagnostic tool) and KB923996-v2 (IE6 pop-ups update). No hiccups whatsoever. I even took 15 screenshots which I may post on a web page later.

Will try XPSP1 French later today or tomorrow.
Super-Magician
@wela, this probably won't be your problem, but please try HFSLIP without modifying the script. Humans aren't known for their perfection in changing things newwink.gif tongue.gif.

@Camarade_Tux, you've been reporting restart problems for quite a while. Are you sure it isn't one of your hotfixes that's broken? I also noticed that you're including an ENU update (Q810243) and four updates (one of which is that ENU hotfix) labeled "WXP_SP2" in their filenames.

@Tomcat76, do you still need any tests with XP SP2 English? Hopefully you'll be able to get this final out soon.
Kiki Burgh
hi TC! i created a couple of builds today using 61017a ... apparently i'm still having some issues:
i created 2 builds today using 61017a & here are the issues i encountered:
(1) RC installation gets stuck while on Checking for disk space status ... the only option is too cancel its installation for silent installers to push through with the installation at T-13 ... as expected, RC is no longer an option on boot ... just wondering if there'd be some modifications in the code ...
(2) WMP11 addon by booogy no longer works correctly ... what happens is it just shows for a few seconds & disappears ... this used to work too ... i'm wondering if this anything to do with the recent updates since i last created a successful build using 60810 final? ... or could the changes made in slipstreaming WMP10 (as i notice that it runs earlier this time when the cmd is invoked) have any effect? ... it used to work just fine overwriting WMP10
(3) running dumpdudes.cmd has these in Exclude.txt:
kmixer.sy_
splitter.sy_
wdmaud.sy_
(4) windows explorer does not work in folder view mode ...
attached are some files that might be of help ...
thanks!

and indeed we need to come up with a final! tongue.gif
Camarade_Tux
MUST be me : I removed most recent HFs (in fact, down to 4 months ago), tried latest stable, without anything in HFCABS and it is still not working.
I'll try on another computer on friday.
Camarade_Tux
Solved!

And in the most incredible way possible : I have a corrupted file on my XP CD.
This file is usually removed by nlite.
Since I was not using nlite, the file was not removed and was causing the problem.

This is only an hypothesis but it has just completed its installation.
I'll try to make a new full iso asap.

smile.gif
Super-Magician
That's great, Camarade_Tux!
tommyp
All is fine with my 2k/ie6/dx9/hfexpert & heavy hfcleanup. Can't wait to install on a real box!
Tomcat76
@Kiki:
A few points...

1) Upgrade to 61017b and remove the Sri Lanka time zone update.

2) One of your hotfixes is dumping wmfdist95.exe into the pool. While not a real problem, I'll have it deleted in the next version of HFSLIP.

3) You don't need to include both Addon_LClock_v4w_dgelwin.cab and Addon_LClock_v4_dgelwin.cab. They are different but the files inside have the same names. One addon is overwriting the other.

4) Remove Ricktendo64_LunaBlackLClock_AddOn.7z until further notice... smile.gif
Camarade_Tux
No more reboot in loop. smile.gif

I'll check HFs this evening or tomorrow's morning.

Hi!

If possible, I would want to make one demanded and to explain of the reason…

I run HFSLIP from batch with the default options, therefore every new release I are forced to cancel the several pauses and confirmation demands before modify my procedure, with the danger to create damages… newwink.gif

It would be possible to insert an option that allows the automatic execution of HFSLIP cmd file without having to modify it?

(Excuse newly my English smile.gif )

Ciao!

WinXP SP2

I may be jumping the gun, but with 61017a & 61017b, at the T-25 (is that valid?) mark I am getting a popup for WMLAUNCH.EXE on Windows CD. Pressing CANCEL allows build to finish.

I am going to back peddle to 61004b since that was the last one known to work for me before the Oct 10 HFs. Hopefully I didn't screw something up on my side
Kiki Burgh
thanks for the update TC!
funny ... smile.gif before reading your reply, i left the cmd running without those that you suggested except for # 2. he! he! i even went as far as removing switchless installers running at T-13 ... i will see the results though as soon as i get home in 10hrs ...
just a little weird, for #s 1 & 3, update KB918093 & both addons used to just sit there in HF & HFAAO directories newwink.gif

now allow me please to share the results of my earlier runs ...
(1) RC installation at T-13 still halts when Checking for diskspace ... no other option but to cancel it ... thus RC is not an option upon boot
(2) how do we get rid of prompts like: "The software you are installing for this hardware ... has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP" usually at T-35 to T-34 ... this happens for about 5 or more times?
(3) been getting Confirm File Replace prompts too for the following files: qasf.dl_, wmamod.dl_, wmsdmod.dl_, wmspdmod.dl_, wmvdmod.dl_
(4) being stuck at 1 minute to go while Removing any temporary files used ... waited for this for so long (this happened 2x) & no option but to restart setup ...
(5) restarting setup proceeds normally but this time new issues come up --- Advanced INF Install nags: Error: could not locate INF file `C:\WINDOWS\HFSLIP\HFSLP220.INF' ... this begins with HFSLP220.INF to HFSLP365.INF (quite a lot smile.gif ) ... then proceeds to being stuck at 1 minute again ...
(6) haven't been lucky too in using WMP11 addon ... it used to work too ... sad.gif ... i'm going to take it out too in my attempts later ... btw, how come MS has not released their final yet for WMP11? (i know a lot doesn't like it! he! he!)

attached are some files that might help clear these issues ...
i'm sorry if i do not seem to post any good results in my attempts unlike the others ...
thanks as always!
Kiki Burgh
just attaching some files that might be useful in resolving the issues posted above ...
thanks again!
Tomcat76
They are of no help. Please remove Ricktendo64_LunaBlackLClock_AddOn.7z because it screws up SVCPACK.INF.

This I forgot to mention....
1) Nothing was changed in the code for the Recovery Console installation. I'll have a look at it anyway.
2) The WMP11 addon is incompatible with the thorough slipstreaming HFSLIP does of WMP10. Why do you need both anyway? The plan is to tackle WMP11 slipstreaming after the new final is out.

@retalv:

It's already possible but it isn't "public" because we can't provide support for automated HFSLIP runs. If you make a mistake, we can't know what it is. Maybe someone will PM you with details.

@NtegrA:

What does the pop-up say? Can you share your HFSLIP.LOG and HFSLIPWU.INF files?

Like I said, probably jumped the gun (I like doing that yes.gif ). I am at the moment running through the build with 61004b. I will redo with 61017b once this is finished and up the files.

I need to do with 61004b again because other things appear to have stopped working AFTER the build from HFSLIP is complete.

UPDATE:
running with 61004b works like a charm. Now running with 61017b. Files requested attached

thanks for this TC! i've already removed this addon ... i'll be able to test the finished .iso when i get home smile.gif as for the wmp11 addon, i used it to overwrite a fully patched wmp10 ... i intend to remove it too or try doing it without wmp10 instead in my next runs ...

btw, running dumpdupes.cmd still showed the ff files: kmixer.sy_, splitter.sy_, wdmaud.sy_ in exclude.txt

Oh yeah, it does look like 61017a & 61017b broke an application that I install after the final reboot, "IBM System Update".
Tomcat76
NtegrA...

Strange. "wmlaunch.exe" is part of MP10Setup.exe. Are you removing it with nLite or something?

How are you installing "IBM System Update" after the final reboot?

Are you using HFCLEANUP? If you are it's unofficially a known issue.

I had this problem when I used HFCLEANUP instead of nLite to remove Internet Explorer and some other stuff.

If you are, you probably are going to get that message even for drivers that come with Windows XP!

That's a strange issue, if you ask me. What is making Windows XP Setup be gay?
Tomcat76
@Kiki...
If you want to keep the addon, use 61019a smile.gif

I'll check out those three files dumpdupes reported and will update the DBLBINXP.EXT file if necessary.
Super-Magician
All is good on WinXP SP2 English using 61017b smile.gif. Everything went through without a hitch biggrin.gif!

Will also run dumpdupes.cmd on my computer to see.

Edit: Wow! 61019a already tongue.gif! Shouldn't make a difference for me though laugh.gif
Super-Magician
I just ran HFSLIP 61019a using compression option D, and then used dumpdupes.cmd.

EXCLUDE.TXT has six files (attached).
Tomcat76
OK... kmixer.sy_, splitter.sy_ and wdmaud.sy_ were added to DBLBINXP.EXT smile.gif
Camarade_Tux
All HF were correctly installed as far as I see.

Next time, I'll run hfslip and then nlite to remove the faulty component and only the faulty component.

*at last*

Looking good, Camarade. smile.gif

@ TC
Bag your pardon for the unpleasantness. blushing.gif Oure right. Its the antivirus soft. 5 weeks ago i updated Kaspersky 5 to v.6.xxx.
Using hfslip 61017b with XPSP2 German... processing and all installations (VM, Real machine) ok.
W2kSP4 the same.
Thanks. GoodBye.
Kiki Burgh
thanks TC for the consideration ... smile.gif although benefits are for the addon users, you & TP going to the lengths of modifying HFSLIP code to be able to support 1 is really more than enough support ... i'm killing myself for saying this but it is not necessary in my opinion ... really thanks! laugh.gif

i created builds using 61017b & i present my observations:
(1) RC is still stuck when checking for disc space (this happens at T-13) ... no other option but to cancel it ... else installation of OS would not push through ... could there be some updates for Sep & Oct that might have affected RC installation? please correct me if i am mistaken --- before installing RC at T-13, SP2 has already been slipstreamed, right? (but perhaps this has nothing to do with being stuck checking for disc space wacko.gif )
(2) removed booogy's WMP11 addon & used only WMP10 ... still the same result ... when launching it in GUI, it only shows for a few seconds & quits (add/remove programs show it as installed) ... again, i'm thinking there could be hotfix(es) that might have affected this
(3) running dumpdudes.cmd still showed 3 files in exclude.txt (although i've seen there's already a newer ver of DBLBINXP.EXT

RJARRRPCGP ... thanks! smile.gif
for these recent runs, i only limited use of HFCLEANUP to using DBLBINXP.EXT

if it'd be of any help, i've attached some files for your review

it frustrates me not to be able to report as well as the others ... if i recall it correctly, my last successful runs were still in Aug ... before my computer was plagued sad.gif

thanks!
Tomcat76
@Kiki

1) Please upgrade to 61019a anyway because it's not just for that addon.

2) I see you already removed VMwareTools.exe. Someone else was having problems too and they were solved by removing that program.

3) Try to remove anything from your HFSVCPACK folder; it may be something in there that's causing the issue.

4) I'm now checking what could be wrong with the Recovery Console installation; the code is still the same.
Kiki Burgh
thanks for the quick one TC! tongue.gif as always ... he! he! removing everything from HFSVCPACK folder is what i intend to do next ... after that though taxing ... & if free time would permit ... i would take out Oct HFs, then Sep HFs ... i'm guessing there might be 1 or some HFs causing this ...

i believe though that nothing was touched in the RC code ... i'm just puzzled why during that time ... correct me please if i am mistaken but RC installation comes before installation of those in HFSVCPACK so could any of those be the culprit? newwink.gif

how about WMP10 (even WMP11 addon)? why do they just show for a few seconds & quit?

i'll report back in perhaps in a couple of days as i'm going to be on offs ... but should there be a new final already by the time i get back it's fine! i guess it's about time too to have a new final that serves all! smile.gif i hope i will get this right somehow so i could report something nice already

btw, are we going to integrate ie7?

enjoy the weekend everybody! smile.gif
Tomcat76
Hi Kiki. I just tested the RC and it's working fine. The only thing I can think of is that you have a folder structure like "X:\I386\SVCPACK" on one of your hard disks where "X" is a drive letter that precedes the drive letter of the optical drive from which you install Windows.

No idea why WMP10 is failing for you. Try by removing all Windows media hotfixes that aren't mentioned on our lists.
Super-Magician
@Tomcat, thanks for the new DBLBINXP.EXT. I'm not sure whether you missed my post or not, but I saw six files on my list (see page 73).
Tomcat76
Those three others were already covered. I think you were a bit behind on updates with that file... biggrin.gif
